Yes indeed! Every check box within the 'Startup' tab should be unchecked if they're not necessary to keep your system or EQ going. Most (if not all) of the time, you can just uncheck the whole list. If it continues to happen, any logs would likely help as well it may reveal a pattern. But definitely let me know here if there are any future occurrances or any changes in how commonly it happens. Have an awesome weekend as well!

It sounds like I problem I occasionally have in EQ and other MMOs in that your client and the game no longer sync up your location. You can still move, but to any other players and the creatures - you're likely standing still and facing another direction. I would recommend setting up port forwarding for EQ or running a clean boot through the msconfig menu to ensure there's no background program interference. If it still happens after all that - we can chalk it up to it being an overall bug, though it may be a bit hard to reproduce on this end.

If you're using Windows Vista, please try my gauntlet of 3 fixes that most commonly resolve the problem! - Fix 1:
1. Right click on Station Launcher icon and go to properties 2. Go to the compatibility tab 3. Click on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select XP Service Pack 2 4. Check "Run this program as administrator" 5. Click Apply 6. Right Click on the Station Launcher icon once again 7. Click "Run as Administrator"
Fix 2:
1. Make sure you are logged in on an Administrator account. 2. Navigate to the Station Launcher folder (Usually c:\program files\sony\station\ will contain the Station Launcher folder) 3. Right click on the Station Launcher folder and go to properties 4. Click on the Security Tab 5. Click on the Edit button. 6. Go through each username or group listed and make sure all "Allow" boxes are checked 7. Ensure that no "Deny" boxes are checked and click OK.
Fix 3:
1. Select the START button. 2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu) 3. Press OK 4. Select the STARTUP tab. 5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list. 6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. - If you still have trouble, please let me know!

Judging by when you posted, you may have ended up trying to login right when there was a temporary maintenance with most of our games! But, if you still have troubles - please let us know. If you're attempting to play the game from the launcher you had back in '05, I would actually recommend downloading our Station Launcher and logging in to play EQ from there.

So in the case of Vista, I'd like you to run the the gauntlet here in the form of 3 suggested fixes. The first one you may have already tried, but the second two help as well. Fix 1:

Usually if you run into the error right after a patch day, it's either a Windows Vista (if applicable) setting causing a block or an installed Firewall no longer recognizing EQ as the same program you may have added as an exception before. If that's the case, I would suggest removing EQ as an exception and adding it right back on. Otherwise, let me know which Operating system you're using and I can provide some recommendations from there.

Not exactly. It's more along the lines of the site isn't displaying them as it should be. I've sent my own inquiry into the situation to the team that handles the EQPlayers site so see what may be going on with it.

I believe the only time where the Station Launcher will show you as having 16/16 is if you currently pay for the Station Access plan. As far as I'm aware, it may consider the extra character slots Station Access would give you as a feature/expansion. Though I don't believe it will stay that way.

Greetings, all you current and future Al'Kaborians! (Is that right?) I am TSR-KenC. Though I am dutifully assigned to the EQ Tech Support forums, I'll also be watching over the EQM boards for any issues I may be able to assist with. We've just recieved a new shipment of account keys, which I can can relay to anyone who wants to get started. That is, until the automated process for flagging account is set back up. In which I'll let you folks know it's back to normal. There are two methods for obtaining an EQ Mac activation key. The "Hey, Ken!" Method: Just send a PM my way and ask for a key! Pending I am at the office at the time, I will get a key to you ASAP! The "Hey, SOE!" Method: Contact us through any of our support lines; such as phones, chats, or E-Mails and request a key! All system E-Mails seem incredibly back logged at this point and actually for the last couple of days. So it may not show up for a while, regrettably! But if you purchased the bundle pack through our system, our Beta Station launcher will both download all EQ files that you're entitled to upon logging in with your Station Login! Please let me know if you have any questions along that path.

If necessary, I can be a little more exact with Savrok's suggestion (though he was basically right on). So let me know. Also, you may want to update the graphics drivers for your particular video card, if you can. That has been known to help!

Just deleting the UI folder should be necessary, but you can delete the other files to ensure there's nothing causing a problem within. There are two types you'd want to delete: <CharacterName>_<ServerName>.ini (example jack_bristlebane.ini) UI_<CharacterName>_<ServerName>.ini (example ui_jack_bristlebane.ini) Please try removing those as well as the above list once more and let me know the result!

Sarkaukar nailed it if you have a system with Windows Vista, that should get you going! Should you have Windows XP, the DirectX fix will still apply. Otherwise, let us know if you have any further troubles.
