I think a really cute live event would be something between Mother's Day and Father's Day, where you could adopt a kid/baby. Maybe you could only adopt one baby per event, so every year it could be done again to adopt more children. You could have kids from all the races in the game (i.e., wood elf kids, iksar kids, troll kids, etc.) and then you could find coins or something like that in the world to buy things from a vendor like a crib or toys or high chair, something like that. And you could add new items every year to the vendor to buy for the children or make for them. The babies could be like a house item so they would be in your house and maybe you would have to do a quest line to have a "nanny" so you have someone in the house while you are out adventuring. The nanny could be a house item too. Or you could have the kids be like an companion pet (I'm NOT saying kids are pets, just trying to use the outline that the game already has) so they could come with you or stay at home - kind of like a cross between a pet item/house item/arena item. Not sure how that would or could be done, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Quite honestly, if I want to have an 'in-game kid', I'll go play The Sims 3. Grats for the creative idea but I honestly don't see too many people being interested in this. After all, it's a combat based MMO (and tradeskilling too!) and I don't see where taking care of an 'in-game kid' would play into combat. I guess the tradeskillers could make clothes for the kid or something but I don't see it as something I would want to do as an adventurer or a tradeskiller. However, The Sims 3 just came out last week and you can have digital kids and stuff like that. I actually got it because I enjoy The Sims sometimes (when I need a break from the MMO world and feel like controlling an entire world instead!). The Sims 3 is no disappointment and just as fun as the previous versions. You might want to check it out. As far as holiday events everyone would enjoy, I always thought they needed some kind of Spring/Summer festival event in May or June to celebrate the upcoming Spring/Summer. And it doesn't require digital babies. (No, I'm not being mean. I'm just being honest. So please don't read too much into my response. Text on an internet forum lacks any kind of inflection or attitude, so it can be (and often is) taken the wrong way. I thought I would avoid the hassle and let you know I wasn't being mean to you personally.).

That does sound like The Sims 3 would be right up your alley. I know some folks might shudder and break out in a cold sweat when I say it, but you can play more than 1 game.

It would add more flavor to the game to have more children than Nathan and the Mara gang. You can get a crib from Unrest collection. You could have a baby to put in it. It would be nice to come home to children in the house, esp. if when you entered they'd come running saying "mommy, mommy" or "daddy, daddy," or "we really missed you." Of course, it would be especially nice to have a /hug animation to go with it.

Why add Sims 3 type stuff to an MMO that centers around combat and tradeskilling though? If I want to interact with 'digital kids', I can play Sims 3 (or 2 or 1, for that matter). EQ2 is not Sims 3 with some combat thrown in.

Hmmm.... and do I come home to a rotting corpse when I come back from questing and raiding for 10 straight days? I got kids at home.... I don't want them in my MMO. But it is a creative idea and I would like to see more live events, so keep the ideas coming and please don't take my first comment too personal. I fancy myself funny..... even if I am the only one that laughs.

I already have in-game children. They are called "alts" and they require regular feeding, new gear every so often, expensive tuition...

I gotta vote "Oh god, please no" on this one, sorry. I do think you might enjoy the sims if you like that much reality with your fantasy. Enjoy~

Simms has never had any allure for me...to much like real life. But children only in the house, is like having pets and completely optional. I certainly would not like to have to "care" for them like I hear you do in Simms.
