Glad to help! That method of starting the game will certainly work to play up until the point where there's a patch for the game. So how long you can go about doing that method is purely up to our development team.

That's very odd. If your CPU is supposed to be 2.5GHz and you're getting the error, there may be a program on your system set to adjust CPU speed depending on it's temperature. That, or the computer may be largely underclocked by default. Can you check through your BIOS to see how your CPU speed is set?

If it happened after a forced shutdown, I'm guessing the launcher may have gotten corrupted due to the way that the computer turned off. I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing the Station Launcher to start and see if that won't fix up the issue.

EQ2 does have certain ports that may need to be forwarding in some router setups. Here's the full on list: -- EverQuest II LaunchPad and Patch Servers A TCP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to patch.station.sony.com port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated from the LaunchPad client port > 1023 to sdlaunchpad1.station.sony.com and sdlaunchpad2.station.sony.com port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703.
EverQuest II Patch: A TCP connection is initiated from the EverQuest II client port > 1023 to patch.everquest2.com, abepatch.everquest2.com, laepatch.everquest2.com, or amspatch.everquest2.com at port 7010. Some of the above patchers resolve to multiple IP addresses, so if you have a strict outbound firewalling policy, be sure to check for all IP addresses using a DNS lookup tool.
EverQuest II Game Client: UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client port >1023 to servers on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000. Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers. -- Let me know if that information needs any clarifying!

Ah, that's never a good realization. I'm glad your replacement is holding well though. A recommendation I can make is to purchase a card online from a manufacturer with great warranty service and support. My personal favorite is anything from the XFX product line. Everything is top notch from them.

That's very wierd - I would, at this point, lean towards the possibility of it being an issue when the game was installed. If you could, would you attempt installing the Station Launcher and try completely re-downloading the game through that method? Or, if that's what you did already with your current EQ2 directory - please inform me as such!

Generally, whether or not EQ2 kicks you out of game or just to character select is dependant on how quickly EQ2 manages to get it's bearings with your internet connection. EverQuest 1 works in a similar manner. It does sound like your overall internet quality is low. I'd recommend contacting your ISP or investigating a possibly faulty router, which happened to myself before.

Might you have any UI modifications that you can update or tempoarily remove to see if that fixes the graphical issue? If it's character specific, it may be that or possibly that character's UI settings file in the EverQuest 2 directory. They'd be in this format: Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini Stationname_characters.ini Attempt removing/deleting them from the folder and trying your character again. Please let me know the result!

It sounds as if there may be some loading from a program on your system that ends up making EQ2 go a little crazy when it's all done. Such errors can occasionally mean an unhealthy graphics card, but I'm not quite ready to make that prediction yet. Can you try clearing out your UI and Startup programs first off to see if that will help? -- For a UI clear: You may want to delete the following files and folders: cache folder eq2_recent.ini eq2_default.ini EverQuest2.exe eq2.ini
As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such: Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.ini Stationname_characters.ini
To do this, please follow these directions:
1. First look for your EverQuest II directory. You can find the default directory in: C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest II 2. Click on MY COMPUTER and then proceed into local disk C: 3. Navigate your way to the default directory, or your chosen installation directory. 4. Next look for any files explained above and delete them. 5. Afterwards, please start EverQuest II to have these files re-downloaded by the patcher. -- For clearing out any un-necessary Windows startup programs: 1. Select the START button. 2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu) 3. Press OK 4. Select the STARTUP tab. 5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list. 6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. -- A temporary suggestion would also be to lower your EQ2 graphics settings at least temporarily to see if the problem becomes more or less common. Which may lead us on the right track to the true culprit if the above two suggestions have no effect. Let me know!

That's likely the case, though it usually doesn't take long for the zones to come back online unless the issue was more serious than we're aware of. If you still can't log in those characters, I'd recommend sending an in-game support ticket through our help site. Be sure to place the category as "Stuck Character"

I can also suggest a fix - This is more along the lines of working around the UAC than disabling it completely. Though disabling it is an option if wanted you to go that route. 1. Make sure you are logged in on an Administrator account. 2. Navigate to the Station Launcher folder (Usually c:\program files\sony\station\ will contain the Station Launcher folder) 3. Right click on the Station Launcher folder and go to properties 4. Click on the Security Tab 5. Click on the Edit button. 6. Go through each username or group listed and make sure all "Allow" boxes are checked 7. Ensure that no "Deny" boxes are checked and click OK.

This is being checked into - but there this an alternate way of going about digital download purchases if that's what you were aiming on buying. If you have Station Launcher on your system, you can go through the purchase process for any game just by logging in to the games list and clicking the "x/x add-ons" button on the game you were looking to make a purchase for. Or, if you were trying to make another sort of purchase, please let me know and I'll check to see if any alternative means are available while the issue is investigated.

As for 1 and 3, I can certainly say there hasn't been any word in regards to EQ2 supporting this. Though I'd be lying if I said it wasn't some great technology I'd like to see EQ2 support. Some games, however, seem to go well with the 3D vision with little to no modifications. So I'm curious as well to see if anyone has tried.

Regrettably we aren't able to support issues that may come up with using Custom UIs such as the one you're using. I would recommend, however, heading to the area where you downloaded the Custom UI and see if you can send a message to the UI creator in regards to this. He/she may be able to help!

Greetings! That file is generally associated with the Miles Sound System that is likely having some issues with your system. I would recommend downloading the file from this link and placing it in one or both areas: The EverQuest 2 Main Directory and the C:\Windows\System area. Please let me know if that helps!

A credit/debit card does need to be placed in for the game in order for the 30 day free period to begin. As Wingrider01 said, however, you can just set the account to 'cancel' right after placing the card information in and that will allow you to play those 30 days without having to worry about it automatically charging for the following month.

Hold strong! Most information sent through our E-Mail system isn't absolutely essential to work with our system. The only real exception to that would be our Refer-A-Friend setup (which requires E-Mail verification).
