Yeah, so after what feels like a break of 2 years or so, I've decided to give good ol' MxO another try. After such a long break though, I find myself completely lost, while the place looks the same, it certainly feels different. And so I need my mind jogging and little bit of tourist information.
I see the email system has changed a bit. What are the new restrictions on it? Do emails purge at all or can it still be used as additional storage space?
I hear too, that criticals have changed -- this was one of reasons I've come back as I'm interested in how they turn out. But before I do that, I feel I need to catch up with the story again, but I find that I don't remember where I go for archive missions. Could someone remind me of the rough locations?
Finally, I'm wondering about a couple of things, one if it's still possible to solo such things as the critical missions? I always found it a little difficult to find other people when I last played due to my crazy timezone. Two, how does reputation now affect the criticals? How much do you need to do each stage? Was the system for reputation improved so that it's now possible to get maximum reputation? I'll accept simple answers for those two as I don't want to start any complaints over the details -- I've seen the locked threads, but didn't have the energy to read them.
Anyhow, it's nice to be back, at least for a while. =)
Emails do not delete unless you delete them. For the new mish/crit deal currently the collectors that start you off are located in Hampton green. Part 1 req lvl 30 and 20 rep in that org. Part 2 is 40/40, part 3 is 50/60. Reputation gain is the same as before. The archivists are represented by a book on the map. Merv is in Appolyon, one is at midian east I think. Can't remember more off the top of my head. You could probably find someone to tell you at mara central if all else fails.
Ah of course, it's the archivists who handle the archives such as Yuki who also have the missions then, right? That completely escaped my mind. Don't worry about locations, I'll find them soon enough I just needed to be reminded as to what to look for.
And I recognise your name from back in the day =)
Merv Archivist - Appollyon NW
Machine Archivist - Midian East
Zion Archivist - Moriah East
New improvements with emails is also you can attach up to 12 items at a time to one email, as well as now being able to view a max of 300 emails at one time.
Also crits are very much soloable, well cept the last part of the new crits which is kinda hard (though probably soloable if you know what you're doing), but two people max can do em without much problem.
Hope that helps and welcome back
Ahh, good to see a name I remember from the past popping up again. Always nice to see returning vets, Welcome back and continue playing!
Certainly does. And I love the 12 items being able to be attached to one email. I'll have to spend a day going through all my old emails that I used as storage! I should be able to reduce the number of emails quite nicely.
And then I'll have to remind myself how to actually play in terms of combat =)
Wow, Chuui, never thought I'd see that name active again. Welcome back!!
Since you left, many of the niggling little problems this game was experiencing have been smoothed out. A lot of exploits that used to be the norm are now gone. The dev team has really busted their butts on improvements the last two years.
The new mission system has changed from critical missions received via your org controller to a quest system that you go to point a to start the quest, and that leads you to the next mission-quest, etc. with the difficulty scaling progressively. THe first quest is entirely soloable and you must be level 30 to start it. But by the end quest, you have to be at least level 50 with 100 rep in the org to get the mission. If you're not yet 50, just grab a 50 and run it with them; believe me, you'll be glad the extra person is there. It is possible to attain max rep, you have .00002% (or something like that) chance of getting the last rep point for finishing any standard mission.
In any event, though, I recommend you run the chapter archived missions before taking on the 11.3 mission quest.
On a side note, daily Live Events are no more, and LESIG is now relegated to a sounding board for story ideas. So the story progression is going to be primarily handled via these story quests.

Thought you needed 60 rep?
30/20 - 40/40 - 50/60 as Zane said.
w00t! Welcome back As odd as this may sound, your name popped into my head when I was going over old players I'd like to see come back hehe
Anywho, most of your questions have been answered already. Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but to start the new crits, you'll beed to head to Hampton in Downtown and speak with your affiliated collector.
I really think the new system is a major downgrade, or at least is not comparable to all we've lost in it's place, but it's always great to see a player such as yourself come back.
Welcome back sir...
Welcome Back, Operative.
WB Hope to see you in-game sometime, shoot us a tell and we can get you caught up ^_^

Welcome back, old friend. Send me a private message sometime and I'll be more than happy to fill you in on some of the more interesting things that have happened since the good old days.
Welcome back, Chuui.

Wow, there's a whole bunch of names I know. So nice to actually see a lot of the old players still here. Thanks for supporting the game all this time so there was a game for me to return too! Endless, are you still doing all the graphical wizardy you used to do?
Cloud, you'll have to remind me of your ingame name and all that. I'm hopping /t is the right command for tells at least >_>
Phrack, I'll send you PM shortly. (Or at least I would, if I could work out how to enable private messaging.)
ShiXinFeng, I must say, I am very pleased to hear that about LESIG. It's what they should have been doing right from the word go.
The scaling back of in-game events, doesn't really affect me. I rarely participated in any anyhow as they had a habit of starting at 4am for me!
To everyone else, thanks for saying welcome back =)
Now, what's up with the forum ranks? The topic listing them didn't seem to have all of them in it, so now I'm confused on that too >_>.
