There are many topics of possible additions to MxO that always seem to end up being argued over the wrong way, instead of reasonably discussed.

 

I wanted to take this example of Vehicles and talk about it a bit.

 

 

What do I think about adding player-controlled vehicles?

 

I think that it would be less worthwile to make CARS player-controlled. If they were restricted to roads, it would be ok, but how much would we use it? I can think of some cool ways they could be used in terms of maybe MxO FILM MAKING, but unless they can hold a whole mission team they would be pretty stupid gameplay wise. (possible idea there though? If someone on the team is lacking hardlines in the area, just all hop in the car and go.)

 

Now, what about Motorcycles?

 

I thought about this, and motorcycles could even be made an OFF-ROAD capable vehicle.

 

Make it so it is purely a speed-enhancing thing, don't make it hurt people when they get hit by it (auto-dodge like NPC traffic).

 

Make it take like a full 30seconds -1minute to "code" your motorcycle, and then you can ride at a much faster pace then running allows for currently.

 

Making them off-road could also create NEW PLAYER competitions!

 

Think of Evel Kneivel acrobatics! Jumping buildings with motorcycles?

 

First person to jump the Gov't Buildings gets 100m $i? Could be some cool possibilities here, as long as they add a key to make the cycle "jump", going farther depending on velocity when jumping.

 

 

 

Anyone else have any ideas related to Vehicles? All i ask is that you respond with explanations and reason, even if you violently oppose the idea of adding them to the game. SMILEY

I wrote a goddam book on this on one of the threads. Let me dig it up,
but to summarize it. It was basically, vehicles in archives or
constructs. As archives and constructs should be the ultimate
playground as there are no restrictions and whatnot.....lemme find my
post now.

If they were to give us vehicles to play with then i think opening up the freeway would be a good place to go and play:smileywink:

The fun factor seems like the only real advantage to player-controlled vehicles. FSM knows we need more fun in this game :smileyindifferent:

Vehicles can be done.  Now im just waiting for that one person
that says no everyone will crash into each other.  Go play SWG and
check out how they have vehicles heck check EQ2 or WoW too.  You
cant crash into eachother because you just go right through the
person.  SWG did a great job of making vehicles into their
game.  Id like to see it in MxO.

But SWG's landscape is way different than MxO. SWG was just endless
plains and huge planets with plenty of space in em. MxO is close
corners, and 2 lane roads. My case of an Archive like Highway 01 or
somethin still stands. Oh and I'm angry now cause I can't find my essay on this :robotmad:.

Solidius is quite right, the landscape is different.


Which is why I think they should make more archives - just some basic ones.  Hell, give us that Arena from the running scene in the Animatrix -


-in conjunction with added vehicles.


Hey.  I'd drive around in circles for hours on end.  Its more fun then macro-ing my Stun 2.0 and dev field buttons.

lol, i didn't copy you, but it's good to hear you have similar ideas.

An archive for it eh? That would be cool. Although the Evel Knievel idea struck me last night and I still love it.

it would be awesome to have a ducati.  like the ones the org collectors are standing by.  

i want a silver one with a cup holder for my nugrape.   how awesome would be for a faction

to show up to a fight on bikes and in cars.  you could kick some aas, get on your bike, spin that mofo

around while burning out and take off.



it would also be sweet to kick somebody off a bike. or jump while
rolling to hit an enemy.. your bike take damage and you can have it
repaired..lol.
