Not that this is a shock or anything, but in light of recent events regarding Paris Hilton you would THINK these young stars would wake up.. But I guess not.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070527...ce/people_lohan

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -  Lindsay Lohan was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Saturday after her convertible struck a curb, and investigators found what they believe is cocaine at the scene, police said.

Lohan, 20, and two other people were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 when it crashed on Sunset Boulevard around 5:30 a.m., Sgt. Mike Foxen said. It appeared the actress was speeding, Lt. Mitch McCann said at an afternoon news conference.

Officers at the scene found a "usable amount" of a drug tentatively identified as cocaine, McCann said. He declined to say where the drug was found other than to say Lohan was not carrying it.

Lohan, who spent time at a rehabilitation center earlier this year, was driven in another car to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, McCann said. The two other people in her car were not hurt.

Officers received a 911 call about the accident and arrested Lohan at the hospital for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, McCann said.

She was released from custody because she was admitted to the hospital, police said.

McCann declined to comment on Lohan's blood-alcohol level. He said the case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office where the actress could face more charges, including felonies. Her tentative arraignment date is Aug. 24.

The crash was Lohan's third accident in about two years. In October 2005, Lohan and a passenger received minor injuries when her convertible hit a van in West Hollywood. Authorities said the van driver, who also received minor injuries, was at fault.

Months earlier, Lohan collided with a minivan when she made a U-turn as the van, carrying paparazzi, followed her from a Los Angeles restaurant. A photographer was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon but prosecutors declined to charge him.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

After months of denying she was a drug addict or was a drinker she is caught red handed with that stuff in her car. Very sad.

But there are impressionable young girls that look up to her (no idea how or why), and constant celebrity worship and news coverage of it does do damage.

I just know that my kids are going to have real celebrity heroes, and they won't be gracing newsstands like Lohan/Hilton/the rest of them.

I think you've just pinpointed whats actually wrong with a situation like that. Parents should be more active in influencing who their child is looking up to. Lindsay Lohan has a history of being a party-girl who doesn't take her responsibility as a role model seriously.

I hate the way that when celebs get in trouble they can always get out of or tone down their punishments, punishments that judges freely hand out to the normal public. Sure they get fines, fines that may cripple a normal person but to these celebs it's merely small change they find in their pocket after a night out.

Take Paris Hilton, driving during her ban, caught several times but let off. Then she gets sentenced to a paltry 45 days in jail, a special jail reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. Then it gets cut in half and she still cries about it.

I don't care what these people think, being a celebrity means that they are role models for all the young people throughout the world, they may not have wanted it, but tough luck on them.
I'm not saying that their lives aren't their own, but they need act with more responsibility when in public, at home they can do what they like... of course that doesn't stop them filming it and 'accidentally' letting it get into the public domain...

I would welcome a court and judge that will sentence a celebrity the same way he or she would sentence a normal member of the public, and not be influenced by the families power/wealth/connections...
That would snap them out of their fairytale lives and show them reality.

No, thats not the point, I dont think anyone here cares if she was send down for the rest of her life.  It is a problem when there are countless girls that look up to her as a role-model and try to copy her and she does this.

It's the girls who looks up to these stupid human beings fault. They can easily be uninfluenced by themself.

I care, I care very much. I have a 15 year old sister and I don't want her to think being a celebrity means you can do these kinds of things and its not a big deal.
They have a responsibility to younger people to set good examples.
And its important for law enforcement and anyone else to show these young people (stars) that there not above the law and start sentencing these law breakers to real time and not let them off.

Obviously my point was that in light of Paris Hilton people like Lindsay are still not getting it, and aren't changing their lifestyles at all. I would think most people would "Care" that famous people especially young Hollywood are setting bad examples for our children or next generation instead of showing them how to be the best they can be.

Celebs crash and burn all the time, its best to burn out than quietly die.

Actually I think you'll find that after they've burned out, they think

'Bugger, wish I could get back into the spotlight'
or;
'Bugger, wish I wasn't dead right now...'

Now I for one plan to live forever, and seeing as I'm a nobody, I may just achieve it!!
