The recent event clothing scales its buffs according to your level....

Make every buff on every item of clothing scale with the level you achieve, instantly the variety of our wardrobe increases exponentially.

If this scaling can only take place at the point of issue, upgrade clothing vedors so you can resample the clothing at your higher level (ie a trade of the same items simply readjusts the buffs). There is no need to change the types of buffs on any of the existing clothing simply apply an algorithm that your level affects ie resistance buffs = INT(3+.66*level), accuracy buff INT((level-1)/10) etc

Brilliant idea!!   Why has no one thought of this before?

I kind of like this idea but it would be bad for anyone who sells enhanced codable clothing, hurt the clothing economy and remove content from the game.  For example I spent more time killing smithlings for the enhanced clothing and guns they were dropping then for any other reason.  While not the most exciting content it gave me something to do.  With your system there would be no reason for me to even farm clothing since all of my clothing would be maxed out by the time I hit level 50.

I would leave it as it is, just make the scaleing buffs on the Anni shirts and Demon Army Trench better, so at level 50, instread of 11pits resistance, we get 36pts resistance.

36 might be extreme.  That would make it the best clothing in the game by far.

Isn't all level 50 shielded/armoured clothing 36 resistance?

Actually saying that, these have all 4 resistances dont they, so mabey 30.  Demon Army Trench and your pick of the anniversart t-shirts, is is if your going for resistance, some people will go for accuracy, others will go for damage, so there will still be as much varety as there is now.

Agreed. If this would be implemented my levelless clothes with 6pts to $resistance would be worth as much as lvl50 clothes.

Thats true, theres only one piece of clothing ingame that is obtainable outside of events (christmas and aniversary) that gives resistance points to all 4 resistances, The seraphim shoes, ande even these only go up to 21 pts in each because it has the other buffs, and add to this that they arent the easiest thing to get in game (they arent the hardest either) and that they are also end game content.

I agree that some items (like the demon trench and anni t-shirts) should have the scaling buffs.  Perhaps even the buffs on the other arc rewards should have scaling buffs as well, just to reflect the difficulty (well, time investment) involved in getting them.  This would only increase the variety of clothing useful at a higher levels, which is a great thing.

But to make all clothing have scalable buffs would be too much, imo.  As noted, it would hurt both the economy as well as the crafting profession (the one profession that really does not need to be hurt any further).  Also, as noted, it would actually reduce content in the game with there no longer being as much of a desirable nature to hunt and loot for powerful or rare clothing items.

To those who think it would make all clothing the same: Nonsense.  Poppycock.  Balderdash.

1) The equations suggested by the OP leave room for change - make some clothes scale 'better' than others in that regard.

2) Put armor on some, shielded on others, mix in certain buffs and bonuses to specific types of clothes, and voila, they're variegated.  Not quite as much as they are now, but I have ALWAYS wanted to be able to look good while fighting, and this idea is top-notch in that regard.

3) Some collectors' clothing, like Peck's shirt, have things like IS and Health regen buffs.  Those are percentages already - don't scale them, they automatically scale with how much total health and IS you have.

Apart from the detriments noted by Shinryu and Renesis13b (which I agree with) I have to say I don't think this idea would work.  The advantage is that you'd be able to wear what you like in combat right?  But what about the percentage buffs to accuracy, damage, initiative and such?  Wouldn't people still end up wearing what they do currently?

As noted once again by the OP, it does open your options somewhat.  The percentage buffs to melee acc, defense, and whatever else along those lines should scale from 1 to 2 to 3.  That way you have a few more articles to choose from.

Just to clarify I wasn't suggesting all clothing to be the same I was suggesting all buffs should scale. ie for all clothing that is armoured simply scale the melee & ballistic resistances. ie scale the buffs the items have now so there will still be 'prize' items but there will be a greater variety of styles and buffs that can be matched overall.

As regards the clothing market it would realign along different borders with respect to both the buffs on items and the physical appearence much as it realigned when cr2 kicked in.

Theres still low level enchanced items that you could use from level 5 to level 50 and because the buffs scale there would be no reason to use anything else.  I know when im leveling a character under cr 2.0 every 3 or 4 levels I have to ditch my clothing and find higher resistance clothing.  Having these resistances scale would eliminate that need to find new clothes.

I'd like it if black formal gloves gave more than 11 pts of resistance. It keeps them useless outside of events and leet RP.
