Okay, I feel like a newbie for having done this, but when I installed Path of Neo I accidentally put it in the same folder as 'Monolith Productions' but not in it's own folder.  This would be fine except that the update patch things I also downloaded for PoN seem to have fubared it and now it won't recognise the disc.  So in order to have something to play while MxO is down I have to figure out how to remove PoN without accidentally removing MxO at the same time.  I seem to remember hearing that the MxO files can be moved around and will still work perfectly because the instal doesn't have to look to a specific location.  Is this at all true?  If I move 'Monolith Productions' somewhere safe while I uninstall PoN, will my game still work?  Thanks in advance.

you dont want to be moving the Monolith Productions, or the MxO folder around anywhere. If the update patch of PoN fubbared it then start again in a new location. You can uninstall the PoN by going to PoN in the Start Menu and running the Uninstall program, if there isn't an uninstall program in the start menu.. check in the game folder. After PoN is uninstalled if there is still stray files in the Monolith Productions folder select them and remove them (careful not to delete the Matrix Online folder). Reinstall PoN from the scratch in a new location and install the update.

Okay so running a standard uninstall of Path of Neo will not also delete Monolith Productions, which contains MxO?  (Just double checking to be sure)

Edit: Typo.

it shouldn't. But just to make sure move the Matrix Online folder outside of the Monolith Productions folder(but on the same disk) while you uninstall PoN. then move the MxO folder back into the Monolith Productions folder after PoN is uninstalled.

Okay everything seems to have gone well.  Except due to server problems I can't jack in to MxO and PoN won't start or recognise the disc SMILEY  Off to Atari Support I go.

clean the CD, make sure its dry, reboot ur system, put the cd in see if it works.
if it still doesn't see the CD go into the Registry by doing ..
Start->Run->regedit.exe

Once the Registry Editor is open go into
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->PoN (not sure of the exact location because i dont play PoN)

If there is a specification for the Cd-Rom drive letter inside one of the items for PoN make sure that is correct and also the Path to the game directory. It's possible something in the update went bad in there. (right clicking on an entry and selecting Modify will allow you to change)
Don't change anything unless you know what it is.

Did PoN work after the reinstall, but before you applied the patch/update?
or did you apply the patch straight after the reinstall without testing.
