Group A - Czech Republic 1-3 Portugal

Portugal took an early lead, with Czech following quickly at the 16 min. mark. The game remained at 1-1 until the second half gave a marginally better looking Portugal a 2-1 lead thanks to Ronaldo. The Czech's hunted the ball, but a stroke of brilliance at the end of the game gave Portugal a third to kill any chance of a comeback.

Prediction: 1-2, Result: 1-3

Group A - Switzerland 1-2 Turkey

The Swiss had taken the lead during a torrential downpour when a low cross slowed on the drenched pitch and allowed Hakan Yakin to tap in.

Yakin missed a glorious chance from the same spot minutes later and was punished when Semih Senturk headed in.

Arda Turan then broke Swiss hearts when he cut inside and scored with a shot which took a deflection.

Prediction 0-1, Result 1-2.

Group B - Croatia vs Germany

Germany and Croatia are both expected to progress from Group B so expect a tense and evenly contested match when they go head to head.

Look out for:
Lukas Podolski's rise to prominance. The young German striker has had to play the second fiddle to Miroslav Klose in previous tournaments but expect to see him shine this summer.

Perhaps not the most appealing match on paper but with one of the home nations facing an attacking Poland team, anything could happen.

Look out for:
Maciej Zurawski's silky skills. The skillful striker will have a chance to shine tonight and Poland's captain and talisman might just be one of the stars of the tournament.

Group B - Croatia 2-1 Germany

The Croats got an impressive win over the favourites Germany in what was the first major upset of the tournament. Croatia had improved vastly over the last game they played, and Germany looked weak at the back. The win could mean a Portugal vs Germany quarter final.

Prediction 0-2, Result 2-1.

Group B - Austria 1-1 Poland

Poland scored early deflating any chance that Austria had at the start. Austria went dead, with Poland battering upon them the whole game. A late penalty fell amazingly to Austria, who got an unbelievable goal tying the game to keep it 1-1.

Prediction 0-2, Result 1-1

Italy to win against Romania 2-1 and France to draw with Holland 1-1.

Though if Romania score first against the Italians, I don't think Italy will win.

Group C - Italy vs Romania

The World Champions will be favourites against Romania but with Adrian Mutu and Cristian Chivu both playing their trade in Serie A, Romania will know what to expect.

Look out for:
Luca Toni. The Italian striker was his countries top scorer in the qualifying campaign and the Azzuri will be looking for him to provide the fire-power again.

Group C - Holland vs France

Another clash of the giants in Group C and this one promises to be a fantastic spectacle. Both teams are reknowned for their creativity and flair, so there should be no shortage of attacking football on display.

Look out for:
Henry vs Van Nistelrooy. Two of the most clinical goalscorers in world football go head to head. The result of the match might depend on whichever is able to take their chances.

Group C - Romania 1-1 Italia

What was a pacy match gave Romania a surprise goal. The match was full of attacking football, which gave Italy their chance to equalise. Late in the second half Buffon saved a penalty which saved the World Champions from dropping out of the competition.
