The first I heard of it was this morning--this will only be happening today, the launch day for the Pirates CSG Online. On the other hand, all profits from the game today will be going to Child's Play, so if you're at all interested in online strategy games, today's the day to check it out.
What about Wendy's? I'm a lot more open to billboards if they would actually work correctly. What do I mean?
Distance does not affect volume, so it's just ON or OFF (at least when it initially comes on). So it suddenly, out of nowhere, blares at you full volume. That's right...
FULL VOLUME. Your in-game volume controls do not seem to affect the billboards. Whether you have your volume at half or full, the billboard will still suddenly come on full out, covering any other sound coming from your computer.

What are you guys talking about? I had loads of fun today with the Live event called "The Hunt for the Pirates". I went down to Ikebekuro and i saw a few Pirate ships, so i boarded one of them and asked around for the missing captian. I went on a journey to a far away land called Never land and I fought some pirate captian called Hook.
I finished him off with my bare hands and my new Iron Pony gloves that i picked up from the Iron Pony store. I was a bit hungry so i went to Burger king and picked up a Whopper of a deal, and I got one of them neato xbox games. I then took a hardline to some space station where I meet a fellow named Yoda. I told him of my journey and he said i won the internets.
All because of this advertisment, my day was fullfiled. /twothumbs way way up.
Well, thats good to hear Walrus. Though next time perhaps a bit of warning that SOE will be doing this would go a long way. I think by now its obvous we of the MXO community dont like surprises like these.
On a side note, can we do something about those annoying movie ad's for wendy's and the like? They are serously annoying considering that they loop constantly with nothing in between them. Hell, can you find out if something like a loop every minute or something could be done? Its really, really annoying hearing: "Stuck in the middle with you!" While shooting at yeti's...

Walrus, I understand that this was for a good cause...Child's Play is a great cause and I hope that this advertisement does help them out. But I think that we're more concerned that this opened the door to more of these advertisements in the future. It doesn't seem like a "one time use" only situation. For this situation I'm willing to have it flash on my screen, but in the future anything else wouldn't be worth it (unless it was to pay for LET in which I would have it on the screen 24/7...seriously). The door has been open...will it stay open or be closed forever?
My thoughts exactly. The fact that this is going to a childrens charity makes a difference to me. If your company can generate money to give to those less fortunate over a four second add than so be it.
However doing this for profits that will most likely not go back into the improvement of the game is wrong.
