im at the lvl now where i can get both styles, now i have been karate but some time now but i cant say i like the rolls. i tryin kung fu now and i do love it, i have tried akido and i cant say i like it as much but havin said that i am wondering wats a better combo to have outta the MA
Kung fu and akido or
kung fu and karate

For lower levels I prefer Kung Fu and Karate. Let me clarify that...actually I prefer Misdirect Punch and Karate.
Karate puts out the most damage and I like Misdirect Punch from the Kung Fu tree for its blinding effect, which lowers your enemies rolls for a short time (along with other debuffs). I'd use Karate until you can get Misdirect Punch from the Kung Fu tree then use a hybrid loadout.

When I was still leveling I was a noob fu / aikido MA, I tried noob fu
/ karate, but in those mass fights having that aikido loaded was much
sweeter, because in short: self-buffs. Makes dmg just tickle.

they will more or less roll similar, i like karate as a single tree when lower level, but akido the higher you get...., though with aqua i went kung fu for a long time so that works too

My favorite right now is having Grandmaster Karate abilitys, Grandmaster Aikido abilitys, and Kung fu master abilitys.
I just find that, that combination thought space consuming, is actually quite good since you can do abilitys like Machinegun-fist, Ki-charged footsweep, and Maki-Otoshi

Kung-Fu is great because if you know what abilities to use in sucession, you can dominate your opponent if he doesn't roll out. Karate has two good moves, Sidekick Combo to possibly stun your opponent, and Swirling Ki Summon to lower their CT. Aikido has some states too and have good rolls, but I'd rather go with Kung-Fu/Karate, or just Kung-Fu with max VD.

Yup, for the past 2 or 3 months now, I've been using exactly the same:
Aikido GM w/ Karate Master, don't even have any from noob fu loaded.
You don't even need to use SKC with it, which is nice to have a fight
that doesn't degenerate into a SKC spamming contest. With Aikido GM /
Karate Master... hehe... there's no need to worry about anyone rolling
out, use your abilities right and they never will, they'll be enraged,
powerless, and stunned the entire fight :smileywink:

Karate / Aikido - Sidekick Combo and Reverse Catch Slam are the highest rolling interlock moves that don't require states, you can keep the opponent powerless just as long as kung fu does, with enrage and lots of dmg/stun from karate.
Nub Fu, well it's for noobs and zionites, plus the rolls are LOW and I mean LOW. Message Edited by krytical on 11-17-2005 12:47 PM

Kung Fu is excellent for lower levels and has it's time to be used in higher lv fights. Right now, even though it's part non MA, I use Karate GM and Sky High Sidekick with Aikido GM up to Tomo Nage and Spy up to Find Weakness. I find that the find weakness freaks the person out at first so they have a brainfart because they're like "*CENSORED*?". Then i'll use the Aikido reversal move because of the n00bs that always spam Sidekick Combo(although when it's done you dont' really have any other good move to follow up with). The reversal technique ofter rolls high that the sidekick combo..no idea why, but i'm still gonna use it.

Ok, it depends on wat ur using it for... karate owns NPCs very well,
however when i MA duel i can usually put together a better combo using
aikido and kung fu.. see if you can keep your oponent debuffed the
entire time you should be good... the first move is the most crucial,
most use sidekick, punch reverse catch slam, and extreme falling
kick... sidekick rolls uber high, but if you dont stun... you lose...

For duels, I use karate/kung fu.. only kung fu for wooden dummy drill and misdirect punch.. then sidekick as it rolls so high at the beginning of fights. Then I use Misdirect.. speed.. speed.. dummy drill.. there powerless, dazed, and stunned. Then I start unloding all my karate moves on them (karate is fully levelled so I do most damage with that)
but for pvp, I load all 3 VD's, (80points) down to wrist throw and machine gun kick.. hyperjump, hyper dodge.. its a pretty volitile load out! :smileyhappy:

Best way to follow up sidekick combo.....load Gunslinger moves, Pistol Barrage works a treat, or even just hit Swirling Ki straight after Sidekick.
