Going to be released on PC, PS3, and 360 with co-op play!

February 14, 2008 - It's been over seven years since Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, but today Electronic Arts announced the third proper entry in the series is on the way. The real-time strategy game is currently in development at EA's LA studio and is planned for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The campaign is being built for co-op play and is aiming to hook both hardcore and casual players alike.

"The Red Alert games are known for challenging hardcore strategy gamers with depth, variety, and innovative gameplay," said Mike Verdu, General Manager of EALA. "But they also belong to that rare breed of games that can draw in more casual players with their over-the-top stories, instantly accessible mechanics, and straight-to-the-fun design. With Red Alert 3, our team is continuing that proud tradition by introducing genre-first features like co-operative campaign play, which rewards veterans and casual players alike. In Red Alert 3, friends and family can always have your back!"

"The team is staying true to the series' roots while adding new elements like a co-operatively played story-driven campaign, an astounding new faction that will shake-up the Red Alert universe as we know it, and units that will help make Red Alert 3 everything our fans have been waiting for," said Chris Corry, Executive Producer at EALA. "And by bringing naval combat into the heart of the game design, we're transporting that fast, fun and fluid C&C gameplay to the high-seas in ways that you've never seen before."

The conflict in Red Alert 3 is spurred by a time travel trip gone wrong. World War III is raging on three fronts between the Allies, the Soviets, and the Empire of the Rising Sun in the east. The tools of war include tesla coils, armed bears, battle dolphins, blimps, and floating fortresses.

PC strategists will get a chance to try Red Alert 3 early when Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath and the Command & Conquer 3 Limited Collection ship later this year. Both packs will come with access to the RA3 beta.

LOL, that's not Tiberium Wars. It's about the Russians and Americans.

You never saw the Russian Ending to Red Alert 1, huh?

Also, this sounds awesome. Although if it's like CnC3: Tiberium Wars and Generals in its style of RTS, I'll be annoyed. What I loved, and still do love, about the old CnC games, is the fixed isometric camera.

I also hope naval combat is still in it.

Edit. Hold on. Did you say armed bears. As in BEAR CAVALRY!?!

You fail.

At the end of Red Alert 1, on the non canon victory side, Kane kills the female main character (a servant of Nod [which makes his murdering her confusing] whom had just killed Stalin) and turns the Soviet Empire into the Brotherhood of Nod.

Kane is in the middle standing over Stalin, if you can't tell.

Well Kane is an insane, psychopathic mastermind. He's well within his rights to murder Nadia

But she was a loyal Nod follower the whole time...

...with bizzare knowledge of the future down to minute details...

What if she was a female Kane? O_o

Well if she was, there's Kane's reason to kill her. But I don't think she was prophetic of her own accord, she was probably reeling off a speil from Kane. And, as we know, Kane is always right.

<_< >_>

Long live Kane!

But yes, as I was saying, it will be interesting to see if EA has truly learned their lesson and has had ol' Joe reprise his absurdly old, possibly Biblical times villain.

Who wants to speculate on his role? I say he'll be tweaking things from the Allied side this time, or might make a subtle appearance as a neutral figure in an African campaign.

Red Alert is the game that got me into RTS of this kind.  I can't wait to see 3.
(Which reminds me, I'm not sure I got around to clocking the previous ones...)
