I'm very angry at teh fact that 3 pairs of head phones I've gotten have all seemed to stop functioning in the right ear piece.... only in the right ear piece. Yeah I can live with mono sound but in one ear, im starting to go deaf in my left ear I swear.

*Runs off to buy new head phones with industrial strength wires*

Jsut thought I'd vent this out to anyone who's had this happen before.

Unless they're massively multiplayer headphones, I think this should be in off-topic.

Hmm.. massively multiplayer headphones?  That thought intrigues me for some reason...

Are they the Sony headphones that are $15? Because they mass-produced (lawl, massively) those mothers, I think. I have bought two total and my second pair has lasted quite a long time. The first pair got me down not because they stopped playing in one ear but because the right earphone made a weird static noise whenever there was bass in a song.

Sennheiser FTW

My bud headphones (AU$80) out perform most large over-ear ones in frequency range response.

also... they're quite durable and the rubber wire protector prevents the wire breaking at the bud

If you love music you owe it to yourself to buy Sennheiser. I have the buds too and they cost me 100 Canadian and they are worth every penny.

Granted for gaming i have a cheapo logitec though as my buds have no mic

Word up for Sennheiser! *Strokes the pair of CX500s sitting on his desk.* Seriously, I didn't realise an MP3 player could sound so good with different ear buds. The bass on these things is brilliant.

I think I recall these being £25-30 at time of purchase ($50-60, though they'll be cheaper than that where you are due to the UK mark-up).  As well as being aesthetically pleasing, they deliver fantastic sound and cancel noise like a pro.  There are more expensive versions, also.

Sennheiser, as it has been said before, is very much 'ftw' when it comes to audio buds/cans.

I've been using Sennheiser HD 280 pro headphones at work for the past year or two. They sound good, and they block out a lot of exterior noise, but they also squeeze pretty tight and get somewhat uncomfortable after a few hours of use. Smaller issues included the skin of the ear pads wearing away, and the coiled cord being annoyingly elastic.

I just got a pair of Denon AH-D2000 headphones, which are way more comfortable, and sound a bit clearer. They don't block out nearly as much surrounding noise, and they take more volume from my PC sound card to equal the volume output of the 280s. So far I like 'em a lot.

Both of these are full size closed circumaural headphones.

Check out Headphone.com.

I picked up a nice pair of AKG-K501 open ear headphones years ago (like 2001-2002) and they still sound crystal.  They have some excellent buyer guides there too that inform you of all the different things to look for in purchasing some cans.
