I fear that this new lag may be a symptom of the collector having too many items in his relational table. The database lookup for all his requirement sets and rewards is taxing the database server too much.
The current inventory backend doesn't seem like it can handle the kind of things being thrown at it now. If we ever hope to see custom buffs and other coding options that everyone is screaming for, this entire backend will have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Now that the system is showing strain from other aspects, this may aid in the decision to do just that.
The only problem is such a task would be... significant. I wouldn't expect it to be finished inside of a year. Just judging from what I've seen in the resource files and the dynamics of how the system appears to work.
Legacy code can be a real nightmare to have to deal with. :robotsad:
