The idea has been raised before and musing on my way back from work made me consider the viability of re-enforcing the character of each org by linking reputation to pvp in addition to the missions etc. My problem is finding a fair symmetry to the award, so it remains a work in progress.

The basis for the distinction is the presence of the truce and the broad definition of Zion=citizen, Machine=authority, Merov=underworld with a kick to the appropriate aggression factors involved.

For example

If you are Zion you would lose 1 rep point for every x cq's gained from machines, you would gain 1 rep for every 2x cq's gained from Merovs.

iF you are Machine you would lose 1 for every 2x cq's taken from Zion, you would gain 1 rep for every x cq's gained from merovs

If your are Merov you gain 1 rep for every 4x cq's

I was figuring x=8 as a rule fo thumb.

An alternate approach might be to have a terminal screen in game (a la CoH) which can be iterrogated to list the online players for each org with a rep over 110 and effectively make reputation point only 'gainable' when the cq comes from one of them...in this way you become a target by your status relative to your organisation etc and it gives a degree of meaning to the resulting pvp.

or scrap CQ pointsa and just have REP!, make REP infinite, and every time you kill some one you gain a REP point every time you die you lose one!,

That would really hurt us mechs.  There are, after all, many more zion targets than mervs and to make me suffer for pwning them... suxors.  I like the storyline theory, but not the practicality.

I would of course like to see CQ's mean something, the possibilty of rep gained from PVP. And Cyph and EPN would need different rules too

I appreciate the problem although the aim here is to begin to make the choice of Org have a meaning beyond the story...the more identity each org is given the more likely are people to actually make a conscious descision to join etc and the population would inevitably become more even. In any event I offered that as a suggestion the frequency or ease with which Machines gain rep from Merovs could be adjusted so that in a typical session the gain outweighs the loss to Zion cq's etc

i.e say adjust

iF you are Machine you would lose 1 for every 2x cq's taken from Zion, you would gain 1 rep for every 0.5x cq's gained from merovs

That way as long as you dont kill 4times as many Zion as Merov you will finish with a net gain.

I feel there has to be a reward for conforming to the stroyline and a penalty for not doing so, but perhaps there is an alternate manner to offer only a reward....the main aim is to make the character (or terms) different for each org to promote the identity.
