Just got a new rig... Anyone that can send me the OP's op.cfg and userop.cfg, it would be appreciated.

Just click on my links a few posts up on this page of the thread.  These are Ann Bazman's Opt. and user Opt. files that she last gave me.  Unless she finished new ones, these are the most up to date.

I kept my old useropts, didn't change my game settings at all and a lot of my effects aren't there anymore. Just like your problem, could it possibly be your rig? Mine chokes even at 1.25, so I made my own "1.1" setting. But it never seemed to be related to my useropts.

Well then it could conceivably be an ATI-specific problem then, huh.  That stinks.  I had to drop down to the 1.25 configs because they seem to display the effects most frequently while still giving me half decent draw distances.  I wish I could go higher, but I do like all those effects too.

I think I've narrowed it down to these three settings:
dl_sid_prefetchradius
dl_sidi_prefetchradius
dl_nav_prefetchradius

When I drop these three settings down, my effects appear more frequently, but things stop being drawn further out.  The fog is still way out there, but it looks as if bridges and buildings have just been sliced in half with a knife!

Hmm,,, ill have to mess with those 3 and see if i have any similarities.  Like Pylat, I also am ATi.  I have a new rig with two of the Radeon HD 3870's (oc edition, with 1gb of GDDR3, runs on DX 10.1 tech, with shader model 4.1, etc) on a new CrossfireX motherboard with two of the newer PCI.e 2 (X16) lanes, with a CrossFireX bridge, to totally complete the Quad-GPU's connection.  8GB's dual channel DDR2 (four 2gb ddr2 dual channel nvidia SLI sticks)  ....*gasp! , sorry, i 4got to breathe!*  Well anyway, its not done yet, I'm waiting on finding a couple specific parts that i want, instead of finishing it with any old part(s)...  dont wanna spend the money on something im just gonna replace soon -ya know?   Too bad this Rig i've been typing about here wont enhance MxO much, if any.  =(  sorry, kinda got excited thinking about the completed project.  It will be by far the most enhanced Rig i have ever made.  As long as Pylat has the same Radeon 3870 version that mine are, im sure he'd understand.   rofl

Well now, if I was able to run fairly smoothly on the 4.00x configs with my two 3850's, you and your twice as good 3870's should be able to do the same with no problem.  Unless we are correct in that MxO is biased against ATI cards, in which case all your lovely effects will go poof as soon as you switch the configs out.  But it might just be worth it to see downtown all the way from the Richland docks.

Let me know if you figure out a way to use the high end configs and retain all the effects.  I've run out of ideas.

On another note, and slightly off topic but perhaps justifiably so, if you've got 8GB of RAM, that means you're running a 64bit OS.  Vista or XP?  Does MxO ever crash on you?  I'm running Vista and MxO likes to lock up my computer every now and again when I launch it.  I've guessed that it's related to the video card drivers because of MxO's bad rep with Vista graphics, but I really don't have an issue at all with any other game.  Seems to be MxO just doesn't like my new rig at all.

MXO - "Search"

...Hi all!

It is long time ago, I was really not often here in the last months - Ann probably much longer. We haven't interrupted our mxo subscriptions since beta, but we spent more time in real life in the last time. Of course we love still our Mega City and it is sad what happened to this simulation or game. We miss many lovely people and friends. I plan to spend lil bit more time here in the future. I ask me, who is still here from the old community. Some of you probably created new characters and used new names. I would love to meet some of you people.

If there is someone from the mxo past, answer to this thread or contact me or Ann over PM. Don't forget to tell us your ingame name and time range when you are jacked in.

I hope to find some of you nice people again.

It was very nice to see you on Recursion yesterday.  It's good to hear that you and Annie are doing well.  Congratulations on your hot new notebook computers, they sound like they could smoke every desktop gaming rig out there.  Annie's useropts.cfg files are still the standard for players starting to mod their graphics settings.  "The Bazman Sisters" are as much a part of MxO as  Morpheus and Niobe are to The Matrix and we're glad you are still here!

It is very good to see you two around again.  As PS10N said, you both are great players from the good old days, and it's wonderful to have you back!

Mx0 ·· "Search 2

Hi dear mxo friends!

I haven't really much time in the past and visited Metro City not very often. I know it makes Arzu sad, but it wasn't possible. I promise I will jack in more in the future. It were really cruel to let such a fantastic simulation die. Arzu, I miss the old times too, as the Bazman Twins were in action. I will support you a lil bit more, if I can.

I made some tests with a new version of the "options/useropts" files (x8.00). And I must say, here is probably the end. The view distance is so big, that I see till the end of the scenery. In smaller districts like "International" you see the border where the scenery grid ends. To be ownest, it looks not very good, when you see where the matrix world ends. It is still possible to use such a version in Richland and Downtown, when you make photos in a special direction. In short words, here is probably the end, the computer and video card must be that strong. My cooler won't stop to run. In my eyes is the current version 'x4.00' the perfect choise. And like the name of this thread says, its a good balance and not a maximum, that counts.

Okay, also I would like to meet some old mxo legends and make Arzu lil bit happy when I jack in more often.

good bye
