ESA announced today that E3 will not be what it was last year. Now, instead of the large trade-show environment of the previous years, it will be a small, intimate gathering to display the latest games. Instead of the estimated 60,000 people in attendance last year, ESA states that their new format will bring in merely hundreds of attendees. ESA believes that this is what is needed for the new entertainment industry. When E3 was started, it was to promote the industry for the holiday season, but now that everyone is aware the games exist, that's not what they need anymore.

Personally, I've never been to an E3, but it's been one of my dreams to go at some point and with this new format I'll never get to see the grandeur of what E3 used to be.
Discuss.
Curse the fact that I forget about that board!
Yes, this does need to be moved.
Heh, np.
I must admit, i was quite disheartened to hear bout E3, i used to watch the gamespot coverage ever year, looked awesome.
lol thejuryman has recieved 1 ModCQ for a total of (god knows how many)
and E3 we'll miss the ol' ways
Although, one good thing has come out of this, perhaps. Instead of having to wait a year to hear news about upcoming games, this is supposed to cause more information more frequently instead of it all being released at E3.
But that just helps the people who didn't want to go to E3 and just get the news back and hurts the people who cared about E3.
But whatever. E3 can do what it wants, but I have a feeling that it will be back to it's original style in '08.
...I can dream.
