Computer Lock Ups and Crashes

So I have had this problem for awhile now, basically I can load up MxO no problem and even play for awhile (the play time varies from crashing as soon as the game loads to about 45 mins before everything crashes). Nothing in particular causes the crash it will happen as frequently if I am just standing around or in a mission. When the game crashes my computer totally locks up (ctrl-alt-del, mouse, you name it the machine is unresponsive), the screen will usually freeze (every once in awhile it goes black), and the sound from my speakers will either be garbled or be a high pitched tone (like in a hearing test). The only thing that brings my machine back is to hit the reset switch and reboot Windows. I have tried reformatting, turning down settings in game, reinstalling MxO, doing a client check, and doing a full system check nothing seems to work. So hope someone out there has some insight.
