Hi everyone, i am having a pig of a time with the game lately (although i managed to get a whole hour on mxo early wahoooo)

The times of the crashes can be anywhere from the main screen post login to during a mission. There is no warning and the game suddenly restarts, i have even experienced this whist my rsi was dancing in a club and i was watching tv so definately no interaction in game needed.

Under the advice of the support site i disabled auto restart on fatal error and found a series of STOP messages on the old blue screen of death (as the TSR put it).

I can play any number of direct X 9 games without issue and can run tons of processes fine apart from MXO. I am a software developer so i know a little about pc hardware (obviously not enough) and have reinstalled all drivers to make sure and confirmed that there are no updates to the ones installed.

The Stop messages at blue screen switch from the nvidia drivers, to sound drivers, and to network drivers randomly.

Having been sent away from the support site i beg the community to take a look, any ideas are welcome

The details of the box are found by following the link as it exceed the max post highligts are below

Not sure whether this will make any difference to you or not as my problem initially was that the game would freeze, worth a try though.

Load dxdiag up and go to sound1 tab which sould be your sound card.

Then at the bottom there is a small slider which allows you to select the hardware acceleration. Try moving it down to low and then run the game and see if the problem still occurs. If it doesn't, try moving it up another notch and see if the problem occurs.

Then it is basically a task of trying to find the best settings for you if it is the sound that is causing the problem.

Thanks for posting jeffers, i had a go but the error seems unrelated. I left my character at mara c for 20 minutes and it was fine, did it again half an hour later and when i came back it had blue screened again

seems to happen on any resolution and even with the sound turned off

a glitch in the matrix or my box? who knows ? well if you do post SMILEY

Hi TSR-RonC I have followed the thread on how to capture relevant details using DXDIAG and have a more upto date DXDIAG ouput, the size (number of characters) however is too large for the forums. I will try to upload the latest text file asap to the same location having reinstalled all the drivers and directx 9c and mxo iteself.

Having followed the thread to the letter what other information do you need? i will send over what ever you need to help resolve this.

an exile in need

Your system is pretty impressive, but I really want to say it's a video issue.  Reason being I used to have a GeForce FX 5700LE and there were many issues.  Crashing being one of them (No blue screen though.)
Just crashing back to my desktop and locking up.  I can't post my DXDIAG since I am at work, but here are some of my specs from memory.

Intel Pentium 4 3.0E (3.00 ghz 1xCPU)

1024 MB (Memory)

Audigy Soundblaster 2 Platinum (Sound)

Radeon X700 256 MB AGP (Graphics)

Your system is high powered compared to mine and I have no problems playing MxO.  My issues cleared up when I upgraded from GeForce FX 5700LE to the Radeon X700.

Thanks Alex7703 it may well come to a new graphics card at some stage,

I can play Dawn of War and Doom 3 perfectly, just MXO that crashes. Hence my reluctance to purchase a new card does jump to mind, however christmas is coming and would keep the rele's quiet.

ATI is not great for dual monitor display SMILEY my reason for getting an Nvidia Card, Anyone else got a Nvidia Card that runs like a dream on mxo? recommendations excepted gladly

Thanks again for anyone who commments, all help is aprechiated

You are more than welcome PacketBurner

I do run dual monitors and yes ATI is horrible for that (words can't even describe.)  I also prefer Nvidia, but couldn't afford it. :smileysad:

I used to play with someone that had a GeForce 6800 and said the game ran great.

This info is from my faction's website (Zion's United.)  This is a list of all unsupported Nvidia cards.  Hope it helps with your search.

Possibly. Not all Nvidia GeForce products will support game play for The Matrix Online. If your Nvidia graphics card is listed below, it does not have the required pixel shaders. Any other Nvidia model with enough memory will work. You can identify your model using the Direct X diagnostic tool.

To identify your video card model:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type dxdiag, and then click OK.
Click the Display tab.
Under Device, look for Name and Manufacturer.
Click Exit.

UNSUPPORTED NVIDIA Graphics Cards:

NVIDIA Riva 128
NVIDIA Riva TNT
NVIDIA Riva TNT2 M64/TNT2/TNT2 Pro/TNT2 Ultra
NVIDIA Vanta
NVIDIA Geforce256 DDR/SDR
NVIDIA Geforce2 GTS/Pro/Ultra/Ti200
NVIDIA Geforce2 MX/MX100/MX200/MX400
NVIDIA Geforce4 MX/MX4000
NVIDIA Quadro
NVIDIA Quadro2 Pro
NVIDIA Quadro NVS
NVIDIA Quadro4 280XGL/380XGL/550XGL
NVIDIA Geforce2 Go

Hey Packet,

few things, have you checked to see you havent got spyware ? (itmessed witha friends pc and stopped him playing)

alsoyou seem to have alotof services running on startupand in background which are notreally needed like

wcescomm.exe
CTFMON.EXE

but the main process being Process File: gcasDtServ.exe
Process Name: Microsoft AntiSpyware Server Process

MSAntispyware sucks and should be avoided at all cost's use something like spybot or adaware and justrun googles popup blocker you will have better protection.

Also you seem to have Norton Internet security and Anti virus. if using Norton AV uncheck the Scan network Drives in the config as it will cause your pc to create added network traffic and cause minor DNS queries onoccasion.. i've not checked for ages but also inNorton Security if there is an option add *.Sony*.* to the safe listsas some of the items like the Sentinel are browser pages which could cause you problems if norton is being an *CENSORED* about things.

i see you are using Wireless NIC are you using it with a Router etc.. if so do you use DHCP or Static IP for internal networking?, do you use NAT ?, do you have a static IP from you ISP?, have you or can you open sepcific ports and routing on your pc ? if so have you opened the ones that MXO uses ?. which Firewall do you use,(please not Windows) is windows firwall disabled.

hope some of this helps i might be able to help a bit more if you let me know the answers to the last questions.

either way good luck

Hi alex7703

The card is a NVIDIA FX 5700LE which doesn't appear in the list, when i first bought the game it was so smooth and ran so well i could run it on high (all settings) and still could mission in downtown easily (pre merge i admit) the game was a delight @ 1600x1200 as you can imagine.

Hi MeroDach

The answer to your question is every one of themSMILEY

I have connected using my wifi connection to a linksys wifi router the wifi router is 3 ft from my pc so the strength of the signal is maxed at 54mb connection anyways, using static ip addresses. Moreover i have connected my pc using a wired conection. I have also attempted to use the Intel Anypoint DSL Modem directly with supplied adsl drivers and updates however the system seems to die on all of the setups.

I have Nortons Antivirus and Internet security running, i added all the ports and sony addresses to both SP2;s firewall and Nortons. Trying both has little effect except slowing the browser screens such as the sentinel down to snails pace which i am used to, but either way with both on "pants down" mode  (box totally smithable for 10 mins) i still crash.

I also have ms antispyware, and have noticed some seperate issues with this and games using the NET. Not just mxo, but DOW multiplayer is glitchey with it running, i often disable it prior to playing the game. At the end of the day ms needed to release something i guess.

This happend just standing at a hardline trying to compile some clothes last night, i hadn't moved my RSI for a few minutes and watched as the game crashes out. This is also common when looting bodies, in fact i have noticed an increase in looting related crashes, mxo trying to keep me poor lol

I am pretty sure its not a connection related issue but any comments are aprechiated and welcome.

Any more ideas peeps?

*starts perusing the 6800 and X9*** graphics cards*

hey,

just to make sure your connection is consistant i would run a Line Packet Loss Testing at

http://www.broadbandreports.com/tools

it's free you just need to register, i am running a simular setup on the Networking side and found that i had better network response by using static ip but also using DNS servers actually addressed on min NIC, for instance

IP 192.168.0.2
subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1

DNS 62.241.162.200
secondary DNS 62.241.163.200

therefore by passing the NAT truncation of most routers, there is also a small program that can be used to open the simultainious connections that SP2 for windows throttled down to 10, it allows the setting to be restored back to 50 as was the case in SP1. The reason for the throttling was to microsoft's attempt to stop the MAPI based virus spreads which it has inflicted on the worl. if you require this program pm meand i will email it to you.

let me know the results of your packet loss, hopefully if your connection is working good you shouldnt get any loss SMILEY
