So as I was watching the news a couple weeks ago, I discovered the eye of hurricane Rita would pass just 30 miles to the west of me.  I was thinking "wow, that sucks."  Over time I got to thinking, "I wonder if they would by any chance postpone the event because of the hurricane."  Obviousely...they didn't.  I got power back just a few days ago, and I got internet back about 30 minutes ago.

I had quit mxo but decided to come back after hearing there would soon be an event involving the death of the assassin, this was just a few weeks ago btw.  I had many many troubles, and apparently I never got my free month from sony.  So I tried sending an email, patiently waited a week with no answer.  I tried online chat, but it didn't work.  So I called em up, and the lady kindly tells me that the only way to get my free month is to re enter my account information...wich I discover on my own that the only way to do so, is to purchase another month for the game.  Well I had put $100 dollars on my mom's debit card (I'm 17 with no card of my own btw) so that I could purchase what looks to be a fine wah pedal (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/s=effects/search/detail/base_pid/151026/).  However, I figured that for this event, it would be worth waiting another month or so for my wah.

$15 and a headache later, I was back in the game...however...the excitement was shortlived.  Ya see the next day (Thursday) it was rumored there might be a mandatory evacuation for our area, so school let out early.  A few hours later I was at some cousins house in Donaldsonville (south of Baton Rouge).  Everything was confusing and I had a hard time contacting friends and my girlfriend due to cell phones still being screwed up from Katrina.

A couple weeks later (after the hurricane) I was back at home sweating my arse off wondering if there was still an event or not.  My cell phone is uber crapy, but I figured I'd attempt to acces the forums.  I couldn't do it directly, but after managing to google them on my phone, I finally got in.  I heard something about the assassin was taking over, reminded me of Smith.  I even fished out my MxO fanzine (which should really be continued) and noticed some stuff.  Paul said 4-5 new organizations would appear, some offering missions and some not.  The Masked is obvousely one, and Pluribus Neo is the second I suppose, but thats not important at the moment.  Paul also said that a cinematic was mapped so that a player would have his likeness captured in the game  (Which is obviosly supposed to be the cinematic on the barge I suppose...but then, that was before the event was it not?  just something for you to think upon)

Anyway the moral of the story is : don't pay $15 for an event during hurrican season.

I really hope you all enjoyed yourself.  Cleanup is going pretty good around here.  By the way I live 30 miles east of Lake Charles, if any of you know where that is, or care for that matter.  Also it was advertised for a week that the Red Cross was helping Rita victims, but its a great feeling to spend 2 horus on hold just to be told that they aren't:smileyhappy:.  Can't wait for the next event, but I'm sure some other catastrophe will occur...I've never participated in one yet...

By the way, I'm not asking for pitty, I'm really not...It just sucks...I wanted to be a part of it so bad.  But I'm going to participate in whatever Pluribus Neo sparks I assure you.

Know how you feel dude.  I missed pretty much the whole thing too!  I do contract work so the only time I get to jack-in is at the weekends.

We'll just have to wait for the next event..... although if I end up missing that one too then I'll consider jacking-out for good.  Sucks!

I'm glad the hurricane didn't zap you.  Surviving hurricane > MxO.

First, I am glad you made it through Rita in good condition.  It's been a particularly lousy season for the Gulf Coast region, and I sincerely hope Mother Natrue has had her fun, or made her point, and backs off for a bit.  A long bit.

On a lighter note, that was a funny post in places.  Not the situation, or what you have been through, but I have to say the way you phrased certain things actually kept it from being too depressing to those of us reading your situation.  That's a good thing.  I little injected tone of ironic humor in a situation like what you have been through down there (and the Red Cross BS) is healthy.

Keep your head-up, man, and hope to see you in the next event.  If you are on Syntax, give me a look-up under Bosatsu (the correct spelling, not the type-o I did with the stupid forum registration).  His tag says "Merovingian" but unless you are Machine, he's no problem hooking up with you.
