I have a friend who would like to try out mxo...thrilled at the thought of another possible sub ^^ i said sure i let him play with mine for a bit but he wanted to try it out for himself so i tried to find my old stash of trial keys :/ uber fail. My old computer which held them all is no longer there and i dont have any left.
So i remembered the "staion launcher" and the whole perminent trial thing...but when i tried to get it up and running for him (after downloading and setting up the launcher) it asks to find the trial... surely the trail is exactly the same as the game and all it would do is add the information to his account? but anyway it didnt recognise the game and is trying to install it again :s
Is there no simpler way to gain access to mxo trial these days or are we all shunted through this half complete software?
P.S ...why is there no trial area for MXO in the station website trial keys section... good holy frick they give out free game trials for everything but mxo? thats just taking the biscuit. And you wonder why we're pissed off that mxo gets no attention -.- PUT IT UP THERE PLEASE! >.<
Click on my sig... the click the free trial link. Or, tell your friend to send an email to: mxospacestaff@yahoo.com requesting a free trial key. It will be emailed to him within 24 hours.
Did you get the launcher to search for the game on your PC? It should be fine for that. If all else fails on that, you can just select to search for the game files yourself through the launcher and you'll be able to just select where your game is installed. I've never heard of it having this problem, heck I've ran through it enough times trying it out and I did it again recently to mess around with it.
*edit*
To reply a bit more, the files that are used in the trial are EXACTLY the same. Provided you tell the launcher where your game files are, it'll run just fine. All the trial in the station launcher does is to automatically apply a trial key to whatever account you're logged in with. The only exception is if you're trying to apply a trial key to an existing account and then nothing will happen as you have to be a new SOE customer or an SOE customer who's never used MxO before.

Default install locations for game files:
C:\Program Files\Monolith Productions\The Matrix Online (if installed with original game discs)
C:\Program Files\Sony\The Matrix Online
