OKay, long story,

Played MxO for months with no problems.

Video card , Nvidia 5700le, over heated.

Switch to back up card from old system. Nvidia 4400Ti , I  think.

When I jack in everything looked fine until I turned around. Then all my abilities would turn to pastel squares and everything else turned low res.

I bought:

New Mobo

New Video Card-Nvidia 8400 something.

New CPU AMD x2 4200+

Uninstalled then reinstalled MxO.

SAME THING IS HAPPENING!!!!!

I'm running Vista Home Premium with all updates.

Thanx in advance for any and all help.

It's a known issue with Vista. Wish I could say a fix is in the works, but there isn't one.

I thought it might be a Vista issue except that the game was fine until the vid card blew out.

I tried to post my DXDIAG but I got the following message:

Your post has exceeded the maximum size (20,480). Please make the body shorter or use less formatting and try again.

What can I cut out of it to get it small enough to fit?

Thanx,

X

Saw the exact problem I was having in another thread.

Someone suggested that certain articles of clothing cause the problem.

Changed my shirt and lo and behold everything is back to normal.

W T F?

I REALLY wish I'd have known that three months ago!!!!!

Oh well, at least I got an upgrade out of the deal.  SMILEY

Thanx for all the help,

X.

From what I understand, when using an 8000 series card for MxO, you have two choices:

the rock: use Windows XP and suffer horrible lag indoors

or

the hard place: use Vista and suffer horrible texture glitches when using certain clothing

If you can get a 7950 GX2 or 7950 XT card (the high end 7000 series) instead of a low- or mid-grade 8000 series card, you won't have either problem and it will likely run faster (as a high end of the previous series can out perform a low- or mid-grade of the current series)
