Simply add the defend, offensive, passive actions to NPCs. This doesn't sound like much use to a level 50 but if you are level 20 then you will find that you can't mission because your NPC always attacks the local gangs and usually dies because they are much higher level than your NPC.

seconded, thirded, fourthded............ you get the picture.

I have thought this many times myself and it would be really usefull for anyone running at lower levels in west/inter

Fifthed: I always have to keep on my toes or bring along a sim when doing escort missions, or if another mission requires me to escort somebody. I've been having this problem a lot lately, since I'm levelling some lowbie characters...

Sixted... alright, now it's getting ridiculous. But such a great idea, and it shouldnt be too hard really, should it? Well, theoretically, from my (not)understanding of game-mechanics.

From a game mechanics point of view I don't think it should be too difficult (unless simulacra are programmed completely differently to NPCs, which wouldn't surprise me), but there'd be a serious problem of window clutter. Depending on the mission, you could have four sim control windows open at any time.

But... that's the challenge of those missions.  Although sometimes if you're escorting around another red pill NPC you'll get one that will defend itself.  But the bluepill ones I've escorted recently, yeah they're Level 1.  Pretty sure that's by design, and what makes those missions a little more difficult.  You have to plan your route.  Check the map and find roads you can walk down and stay away from the open yards or alleys.  I agree it's not easy, but I don't think mission escorts should be turned into Proxies that you can control.  Easier too if you team up with other players.  Soloing escort missions with multiple Level 1 NPC's is tricky...much easier if you can have help that'll either clear a path, or "watch your back".

Sometimes you have no choice because if you say repeatedly do assassination missions eventually it's going to ask you to do an escort at the beginning. I guess it keeps track of what standard missions you're doing so you not always doing the same objectives.

OMG, yes! Something like this is totally needed. I can't tell you how much of a pain NPCs can be (Well, if you're a low level.)

You'd be doing some missions mostly Archives have this kinda missions. Just say your NPC (that is following you) is level 20-ish.

Now, if you was a low level. Your missions would be in westview. Now as we know most of the NPCs are level 20+ around there. So you'd be running along, bam! One of the gang NPCs shoots at your NPC, now they start some huge fight with the hole bloody gang. But yeah, you get the idea. =P

While this would certainly help make those missions easier, I'd rather see an aggro level that was more catered to the person you're escorting.  For example, in one of the noob missions you're escorting an NPC who keeps commenting on how he wants to kick butt.  It wouldn't make any sense if you could set him to not attack anything, he's just being escorted by you not controlled by you.  In some cases, however, the high aggro level really doesn't make any sense.  So, in short, rather than make it user controllable, make it so that the aggro level varies such that not all escorts appear to be suicidal nutcases.
