Sounded pretty epic, especially leading up to the end with the gold halls, sky whiteout and matrix reset. What intrigues me the most is what would have happened between Man/Machine in the end. Obviously some sort of resolution to the war would've been had (what with man helping get rid of the machines most inherent flaw) but what? Some sort of collaboration on the new Matrix? Would've thought Zion wouldn't be too happy about the concept of any Matrix in general. But who knows, maybe they saw the importance of coexistance in the end.

With the resolution of the war, the next step could be the Machines and humans finally getting down to working together to clear the sky.

Since I'm departing, this particular version of the story has come to an end with chapter 12.1. Any future story will be in the hands of others and, I expect, quite different from the last chapters of the one so briefly sketched out here.
To me this seems to suggest that we may still get a story, but a different version of it. Anyone think this is possible?

I think it is and hope it will be.

Hard to see this being followed in game tbh.

Shimada's somehow alive, after having her jack pulled? Neo's supposedly still dead, yet somehow a woman with tons of steel rods shoved through her chest is alive?
You're not paying attention. Shimada is dead - the future scripts just weren't rewritten to account for it. Rarebit explained that. All the Trinity stuff is explained as well.
You may have a point with Edmontons, though. I don't care about Morpheus, and Novalis II was all but written out with the departure of the LET.
Morpheus or the Morpheus sim?
Morpheus is, as we saw back in cinematic 1.3, dead.
Anyway, I liked some aspects of what was written up. It certainly would have been interesting. Perhaps something similar to the end could be carried out as part of the anniversairy event as some form of closure, instead of the story just dropping off.
I wanna see the corrupted matrix again!
While it does seem pretty awesome this way, the fact that we know about it now (and that Rarebit is no longer with us) means we won't see this, or possibly anything else, at least for a time. I can at least see now the reasoning behind the Oligarchs having no skin. Anyway, I don't think any of us should dwell on what could have happened, but what will happen, which is... what? Up to us, I guess.

There are only two others I'd trust.
1) The W Bros
2) Peter Chimaera!
"sOh no!" Merpheus say at teh radar screen "more matrix is attack us" "we will have to jug in" Trinity hooked her up
I can see the ads now:
The Matrix Online - Jug In!
Wow the story is great. The 2 matrix things is different, would like to see how and if that will play out. Guess still we'll never know what really is going to happen.
Rare, that was quite the story. Answered just about all my questions too (well, besides Morpheus, anyway). I take it the Oligarchs took Neo's body to study his DNA, etc?
At any rate, I really, really hope that your next career lets you be as creative as this one has. Well done.
thanks Rare, appreciate the disclosure. I cannot even imagine what will really become to the story line after you have left....my guess? no story line development in the future. simply a simulation to play in. IMHO, YMMV, etc. T
Very interesting, I had the clone idea a long time ago, about humans being clones - looks like I wasn't way off that it involved DNA Great stuff - and anything is possible.
