How long can emails stay in your Inbox?

Do they ever get automatically deleted?  For instance, I have all those neat in-game lists that davemusic sent out and was wondering if they would get deleted once they get too old....

I dont think they get deleted, Walrus said it can be used as a storage system.

yup just email something to a non existant player and you'll have your undelivered email with item,

The answer should certainly be; indefinately.

It's just plain text data stored in a database backend like MySQL, PostgreSQL or *spit* MS SQL Server.

The emails are so small that it won't matter. Lets say it's 10kilobytes
per email, which is still a lot for an in-game email with perhaps an
attachment.

1000 players (random number) x 100 emails each x 10 kilobytes file size.

Thats roughly 1 Gigabyte of data stored on a database server. That is
nothing, i've sold solutions that handle many more times that amount of
data! The complexity only comes with database access, which is an
entirely different cake.

The answer is still indefinately. Unless they decide to restrict the
inbox size for usability reasons, after all we have no folder support,
and such a thing is **bleep** hard to implement.

Just my 1 $info,

Cheers,

HA!
and YAY! I was doing this anyway, but if Walrus said we can use it for
sorage, the better for us. And all you REALLY need to do is send
YOURSELF and email with the item and it comes into your invbox. SMILEY

Good to know.  I have a few things sitting in my inox that I want there forever.

Or until they make those PDAs worth something again.  SMILEY

Could just input your characters name and the email will do a quick turn arround.

Saves the embarrasment of when your email doesn't get bounced SMILEY

I also think they stay for as long as you would like untill you choose to delete them. Another odd thing i ran into while emailing my Alt useless docs and audio files is, the amount of emails shown are only limited to by the space provided.

The area where your emails show up at, is scrollable, however it only scrolls for that section of the bar it does not continue past it. I havent had time to sit and count how many can be shown at a given time, but if you have 30 emails waiting, you can only see maybe 25 of those unless you start deleting a few to see the older ones/new ones.

Also allowing more than one item per email attachment would be nice SMILEY

Only draw back if you can only attach one item at a time and you have to actually pay some cash when you are emailing an item. Though the cash seems fair for unlimted stoarage space the one item at a time is a bit much.

Ive been coding a lot of things lately, and im now using my info as a carefully co-ordinated storage unit SMILEY, thus making much needed space for other items..... also as a tip im using ":: item - "" as a message start to know what has items with the name, and as far as ppl are aware its perminant, though i hope i can send my halloween masks and pandora item there soon too SMILEY, i.e code it so none tradeable items can only be sent to yourself?
