What's up with the new Sentinel?

We've got a new Sentinel about two moths ago. Since then, the newspaper has not been updated, so my question is: when? When it came to giving up the cinematics, I thought we would get a new Sent every month, but now I come to realise that this is not going to happen. Hope we aren't gonna wait for a new paper one year again...

I suppose this question goes especially to Rarebit or Virrago, so it's their answer I'm expecting the most.

LESIG is handling it, so I guess it comes out as often as they can get it put together quickly enough.

The sentinel is not a replacement for the Cinematics as such it is not subject to the same release times.

i read that the sentinal is supposed to replace the cinemas, thats the reason they were updated

can u wait until a dev comments on this before u write something?

Edit: Because Rarebit even reiterated it later on in the same thread HERE. And doing a search for "sentinel" in posts made by Rarebit show no results that contradict what he said before.

I'd rather the Cinematics just came back. When you think about all the people involved in making them (at least two voice actors, an illustrator and an animator) and how much money the game "saved" (or lost less), you could at least expect an extra developer or something. Anything.

The Scanline thing hasn't been updated in forever, either, or was that dropped in favor of the Sentinel?

I personally never said anything about the Sentinel replacing the Cinematics here. It's just that the announced "comeback" of the paper made me think it would be a something regular, not just a "we do it when we do it" stuff.

I know you didn't, I just said that it wasn't on the same schedule as the cinematics. As you said, you thought you'd get them pretty much every month. It doesn't look like it unfortunately.

As Cervacius kindly pointed out above (twice and saved me the time in looking for them) those were the threads in which Rarebit stated that the cinematics weren't a replacement. That's where I get my information from. Can do a little research before you write something?

That's the point of my question, Vinia: what does it look like then? What can we hope to get, finally? I know this has been discussed already, but still: wasn't the Sentinel going to be one of the major ways to tell the story since the beginning of the Chapter 10? Wouldn't that mean we could hope to get it updated several times per Chapter, and not just once in eternity?

Just asking...

The Sentinel is supposed to supplement the story rather than be a major device to tell it. It's also being done by LESIG who have to put it together and, most likely, forward it to Rarebit who passes it to whoever to make sure it's up to standard (legal stuff). Until we get another couple we won't know the rough release schedule. Many important events are now being written into Live Events, so the best way to keep up, apart from asking someone who witnessed the event, is to read the LE thread on the forums.

So far, unless there was a hitch in the process, you said it's been about 2 months, so we can hope for an update every 3 months, perhaps less when the LESIG Sentinel production machine gets into full swing. I'd like to hear an official schedule, but I tend to doubt there is one.

Oh, how I would love to have another developer. They should pair it up with Rarebit so we can get more events or *something*.

And the Scanline thing... I've never had a receiver, and after some attempts at trying to get one, I just decided to stop trying to get involved... so I've never followed it. Since it's a LESIG thing, I don't think they'd drop it just because they have to handle the Sentinel. If it were an SOE-only thing, they probably would have dropped Scanline earlier on. =P
