I was excited about the 1st, and thought it was a big dissapointment. Everyone says that the 2nd and 3rd were muh wose than the 1st. I just dont see why poeple like this franchise.
Personally, I'm fascinated with the psychology behind characters like Jigsaw. The violence isn't what interests me, though it is fun to be completely grossed out once a year. The fact that it's Hollywood and being displayed two-dimensionally on a projector screen makes it a bit easier to watch. There's no way I could stomach that stuff in real life.
But Jigsaw is just plain interesting, and the fact that he's so righteous about it makes him even more so. I love figuring out what makes people like that tick. What happened to them to create their demented view of reality. Abnormal Psychology has always interested me.
More than that, and this really only pertains to the Saw series, but the method of death always gets me thinking. It's amazing that in the process of making these movies, there must be a guy who's sole job is to come up with the most twisted and sickening ways to kill people. And he has to keep upping the ante with each movie. Who is that guy? What's his creative process? How much does he get paid?
