Ok I have little imagination/creativity but I've had Photoshop CS2 on my PC for ages now, so I want to try my hand.. I have been blown away by some of the pieces of Art submitted by Pyraci, Mantra777, HT etc....

Apart from some signatures which I've cut and pasted together I've never attempted to edit my images.

I decided that I will attempt to follow some of the tutorials from the forum to manipulate some of my screenshots, hopefully, in time, I will be able to enhance the images somewhat....

So here goes.... please provide any feedback, it will help me out a lot! SMILEY

These two are created for Pyraci's Too Little, Too Late (Open RP) thread on the Syntax boards.
I wanted to achieve a somewhat Film Noir/Sin City-esque look...

Instructions....

Preparation...

I really like how you made the rain outside more noticeable through the window, they are both really good pieces.

My only nag is my old habit of not cropping pictures when finishing rain, just to get rid of the odd whiter bits of rain.

Keep it up.

Hmm... I see what you mean. Actually the whiter parts were far more prominent, I just stretched the rain layer a bit. You're right tho' I can still see the odd bit, I'll have to be a bit more ruthless when stretching the rain layer...
Perhaps next time I should wait for rain in-game! It was bright and sunny when I took these originally!

I like how you've desaturated parts of the image and left others at normal saturation, what you need to expand upon is the realism, hair, clothing, rain ect. think about how it would act in the scene you want to create, if the scene is windy then get her clothes to blow with the wind and her hair ect. and the rain, rain isn't just coming down on you it's all over, miles behind and right up in front, best thing to do with rain is make at least 5 layers of different sized rain otherwise it's not looking realistic,

Yeah, my next step will be realism of the hair. Thanks for the tip with the rain, I'll remember that! SMILEY
