Im usually not one to complain about SOE policies, but this one has got to be the most illogical solution to what they are saying is "spam"

Why cant individual posts be removed if they are considered spam, instead of locking threads that go back 2-3 yrs for factions that have been around that long, and get plenty of traffic on their thread?

Virrago, Im sure Im not alone in this, and I urge you to please reconsider this new policy of yours, either pushing back this post count to a much, much, much higher number (1500, no recruitment thread in all 3 servers have reached 1500) or simply keep your MODS doing what they do already, MOD.

Once these old threads get locked and eventually disappear past the first page, most people that look at these forums will NEVER see them again, unless linked to them - what this does in a small way is it KILLS the history of a faction, or at least separates it as far as these boards go.

Im not exactly sure what prompted you to do this, but Im sure there are other solutions to whatever is causing any problems.

Thanks for your time,

Manatik - Dark Evolution

ps: What does FA, ML, RR, SC, CoZ think about this? (and factions from the other servers)

I was a little curious when I saw that Inkblot had suddenly posted in all the top recruitment threads.

As I understand it, it has something to do with the functionality of the forums.  If a thread's post count gets past a certain number, the forums get grumpy.  I could be wrong though.  It would be nice to have a legitimate reason for this new rule, rather than a bland statement of "this is how it is from now on".

Many factions on all servers have their distinct histories and those histories can help stay preserved through their recruitment threads, rather than having to rebuild them after a certain post count.  People do pay attention to the date stamps on posts, and it gives a faction a bit more legitimacy to new players/potential faction members if those date stamps go back a year or two.

Just my two cents.  :\

but, good luck. virrago has a "certain" mindset.  i was glad to see him go away from the swg forums.

I would like it if they didn't lock the threads at 300 posts. It's a bit of a legacy in these threads. I know a lot of factions can note their progress from page 1 all the way to the end. Kind of like cutting a tree and looking at it's rings. These threads are history and I want to keep mine going.

If virrago decides to stick with the policy then I'm not going to die or something. But I would like to keep the thread open.

Oh well. :/

Unless its a technical problem with the forums, I think this idea is ridiculous. Not only that, pointless and counter-productive to the integrity of many respectful (and old) factions. Why would you do that just to start another? It makes no sense unless its 'technical.'

Please reconsider the decision, and consider what's really gonna come about through this. Not a whole lot....

Virrago sure knows a lot about the forums..But THIS new rule is one of the worst  i have ever heard. Each faction has a history. You can't just wipe out our beliefs and ideals because we reached the 300 post count. If you feel the need to reduce spam,by all means, you are more than welcome to do it..That's why you have moderators!!
*sigh*

I'm not a fan of this new rule at all... people who spam should be punished for spam, but the whole community shouldn't be punished for the actions of a few. As has been said before, factions have history... indeed, I think that new players will take into consideration the past role of a faction when choosing where to align themselves. By destroying these records, the slate is effectively being wiped clean -- which after literally YEARS is quite absurd. The positive benefits of this new policy.... negligible, the negative... well there you have it.

That sounds almost like what Tyler Durden was after.......

they already locked ours on recursion (mega city department of energy) but yours seem to be intact.

this is a stupid idea on the part of virrago. isnt he supposed to foster community relations between SOE and us, instead of pi55ing everyone off?
