I just purchased the game last night to add to my Station Access. Installation went smoothly, patching was very rapid and character creation was fine. Connectivity was fine. I have only had one issue; there is no music.
I was in the MXO beta and I clearly remember there being music when jacking in, during combat and travel.
I searched for similar issues suffered by other users here in the technical support forum. In the main one I found, I followed similar procedures. I deleted my Profiles folder and did a full patch. I turned off my hardware acceleration in DirectX. I disabled sound options in game at the Audio tab.
None of this has worked.
I attempted to paste my DXDiag and MSINFO32 information here, but it seems rather futile. The information is too long and not one other program I have, ranging from games to video editing programs (Adobe Premiere) or audio editing programs (Soundforge) have a single issue playing any sound I care to generate.
Any assistance that can be provided would be appreciated.

I am using a SoundBlaster Audigy 2NX USB external; can't stand onboard sound.
I rechecked my drivers and they are the most current installation, both software and firmware upgrades, from Creative.
I haven't had any noticeable issues in MXO or any other sound-producing application, minus the lack of music. The sound is very rich and of excellent quality. There's just no music.

possible glitch with the radio (it's happened to me). try typing
"/radio stop" ingame. 50% chance it will work, and no the radio
does not need to be playing to use

try disabling the EAX functions both in the control panel and through
the game options, i use both an Audigy and an Extigy both created
issues in the past for me with the music.
Try it see how it goes.

Yes, I saw the /radio stop suggestion in the other thread... unfortunately, that did not work either.
I disabled EAX in-game, but not from the console... I wen to the console to do just that, but I did not see an option to turn it off.
I will look for further information on this.

Hello,
I want to see if we can find a commonality for the sound issues. Adnihilo, could you post the sound portions of your dxdiag? Thanks.

there is a number of ways to switch off the EAX, there are options to
do it in the audio setup options located in the control panel, make
sure its the Creative sound options not the Windows audio options.
Other ways include doing it through the Creative Taskbar if you
installed it during the driver install, if it isnt running run through
the creative directory and there should be a executable file to make it
run. this enables the taskbar to quickly change EAX options. Or finally
through Creative Playcenter if you installed that during driver install.
Im fairly sure this will solve your problem. Just as an extra test
whilst playing the game open winamp or something in the background and
attempt to play some music.

I disabled EAX in the EAX console; no change, still no music.
I started up Windows Media player and loaded my playlist, then started up MXO. Music played just fine, could still hear all the game sound effects (combat, etc).
Did the reverse; started MXO and then started Media Player. Same result, music played and all in-game sound effects played fine.
Thanks for the suggestions folks. Still looking for an answer :smileywink:

Addendum to the previous post; the in-game radio option works like a charm. Listened to AwakenedRadio and my own MXO playlist just fine. Sound effects worked, everything worked. Just no in-game music, still.

Hello,
Can you hear all footsteps, jumpsounds, helicopters flying? If you teleport to a different hardline does the music start?

Yes, I can hear all footsteps, jumps and the helicopters (which can get pretty loud on occasion!).
Teleporting to a different hardline hasn't had any noticeable effect.
It's less of an issue now that I'm using my own playlists and listening to AwakenedRadio, but it's still rather strange.

Same, all footsteps, choppers etc but no music and hardline jumping does nothing.
Mayb its something to do with the audiogy 2 technology? Cos my brother uses the new X-FI and has no problems at all...
