Since I've been plugging it a bit in some other threads, I figure I'd start a thread here so you can see all the preview-y goodness behind it. If anyone else wants to try this one out, let me know so we can discuss trying it out together or in a group. The graphics are pretty and the setting is bad(a)ss. The only thing left for them to get right is the gameplay:

I can't wait for this game. I've been following it ever since they released that first trailer.

This game is at the top of my list of games to look for (well, with Fallout 3). It won't be a MMO, but you'll be able to pay 10$ each month to have many MMO-like features such as faction creation, player housing, elite-looking gear, but above all, regular new content. Players who don't want to pay will have the same game, it's only that some areas and items won't be available. Oh and paying customers will be able to play with non-paying at the same time.

I'm currently playing in the Alpha test of Mythos, a light diablo clone mostly used for them to test the back-end systems for Hellgate.

And if you want more details, I suggest you to check the website but also this fansite www.hellgateguru.com

the concept seems a little strange to me.   An MMO thats not really an MMO?   From the pictures it looks like an FPS and reminds me alot of Oblivion. So would it be safe to sa this game would be somewhat smiliar to Oblivion as far as gameply goes, but have an Online feature?

And Harp  your link doesnt work

If you play with ranged weapons, you can play as a FPS. You can activate or deactivate auto-aim feature depending on your skill. If you play a melee character, you play as third-person. For the MMO comparison, well, since MMO means massively multiplayer online, yes, that's a MMO. However, unlike MMOs, you can play single-player. The game will have instanced randomly generated dungeons, gear assembling elements, Gather X trinkets quests, things like that which are common for MMOs. The single player part is where the true difference is.

The guys at Flagship sure went to the extra mile to blend many gaming conventions instead of going for the very defined gamestyles that are around.

This will help for others like me

Hellgate: London is the first original title from premier developer Flagship Studios. Set in the near future, Hellgate introduces gamers to a world devastated by demon invasion. Players are thrust into a desolate city scorched by hellfire. Here, the few survivors must meld science and sorcery in order to gain a foothold against the minions of darkness and save the bloodline of humanity.

Hellgate: London combines the depth of role-playing games with the action of first-person shooters while offering infinite replayability and an individualized gaming experience complete with dynamically created levels, monsters, items and events. Players create a hero and then battle through innumerable hordes of demons while completing quests and advancing through experience levels and branching skill paths. A robust, flexible skill and spell system, highly-customizable items and a massive variety of randomly generated equipment allow players to create a hero that is truly unique.

A New Perspective on RPGs

  • Combining the depth and customizability of role-playing games with the immersion of those played from the first-person, Hellgate is fast-paced but doesn't require lightning reflexes to achieve a high level of success.

Unique and Appealing World

  • Explore an ominous post-apocalypse London alone or with friends. From ancient ruins long buried beneath once thriving streets to shattered cathedrals, fact and myth are blurred into an unceasing nightmare as the last remnants of humanity fight for their very souls.

Character Classes

  • Fight against the demons of the underworld as one of several unique character classes. like the Templar, each class has a unique visual and game-play style based on its particular history and place in the world. Randomly generated items that can be modified in numerous ways ensure that heroes are distinct and individualized.

Hell on Earth

  • Battle against a wide variety of demonic enemies, each with their own unique attributes, abilities, and vulnerabilities.

Infinite Re-playability

  • With dynamically generated levels, massive quantities of randomly created items, chance events and story-driven quests, no two gaming experiences are ever the same. Differing levels of rarity and modification potential for items and skills also mean that every game played is a unique event.

Single-Player and Online Multiplayer Support

  • While Hellgate: London stands on its own as a singleplayer game, it also provides a compelling multiplayer experience via a dedicated online gaming destination. By creating unique and individualized gameplay "instances" within a vast online community, Hellgate provides gamers with all the best parts of traditional massive multiplayer games, but without any of the common downsides.

For you UK folks, unfortunately, your local retailers are not participating in the pre-order promotion. You can still pre-order the game, but you will not receive the Dye Kit offer. Here are some links where you can pre-order the game:

Also, for those of you who are still asking if there will be a Collector's Edition available in the UK/Europe, there will not be. We really wanted it to be available everywhere, but things just didn't work out. Importing a copy is always an option, though you may want to check this FAQ first.

Huh? No UK love? I've seen plans for Hellgate for ages and looks petty cool, but for a game set in London, England... Why the lack of support? If the pre-orders from the UK retailers don't include beta-keys (I can't see any mentioning it) then I won't rush to get it.... Mind you, beta is almost finished now anyway isn't it...

Released November 2nd according to the GAME site.

I'm far from a seasoned gamer, so if you early-birds have any impressions, do share.
