Well, as many of you may know, I like to keep an eye on these here forums, I enjoy most of the community, and the activities of servers that aren't my own interest me.

But as of late, i've been noticing consistent problems with Recursion, usually it's to do with the inability to go from the loading area to the Matrix itself. Other times it's horrendous lag, lag greater than Syntax and Vector combined.

Now, I wondered to myself; could this be to do with Recursion being the largest server in terms of population? After a while I thought no, as the External Playtest server has more than Recursion on it I would say. A large chunk of Recursion play on it. Near ALL of Vector plays on it, and a lot of Syntax too from what i've seen.

So why the problems with Recursion?

I don't know, maybe there's something obvious i'm missing, but don't you think, with all these problems that seem to be increasing in volume, a check of Recursions code may be needed? As obviously (to me) it seems that the server is not as stable as the rest.

Feedback appreciated, and if i've made an oversight, let me know.

Thanks.

Because Recursion is the red-headed stepchild of Iterator. 'Nuff said. :p

If he did, it backfired, as all servers went down eventually.

Supposedly, the patch is taking place some time today.

If it's a problem with the code somewhere on recursion for whatever reason then copying to a new server wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. :p

But yeah, recursion seems to be getting the majority of problems at the moment so perhaps a little more investigation could be done into it. SMILEY (Would make my char happy anyway)

I'd have to agree. While I've had lag problems for the past month due to my own issues (hard drive was going and had to get a new one), I've still noticed sporadic periods of great lag now that I'm good to go again. Last night in Tabor Park near the East hardline was a good example. Occassionally, I'll pop over on Syntax and I don't really experience significant lag there at all.

Recursion is so unstable because it is the combination of the biggest population server pre-merge(Method), the greatest RP server(Regression), and as stated before, it is the red-headed stepchild of Iterator. The combination of these three servers leads to a power source comparable to the amount of energy in a single Chuck Norris roundhouse kick, thus causing total instability.

I wouldn't go calling any server the best RP server.  They are all RP servers.

i think that little bug that caused the massive agent attack on recursion broke a part of the server.

QFT.  Recursion has Iterator in it. Maybe they just crumpled up Regression and Method then stuffed it into Iterator. :robotsurprised:

It was my understanding that with Monolith they had Virtual Servers, as in, one machine was split to do the work of 3? So if that was the case, when they merged they more than likely just eliminated the need for the processor(s) to stop context switching between servers.  So Method, Regression, Iterator were all one in the same!!111z0rz

I've had no login issues, but then again i login after 12 at night eastern time. Maybe it's not as bad then.

I've never had problems with Rec. but, I don't hang around the heavily populated areas.
