Good luck to all those receiving their A, AS and any other results tomorrow from college. More to the UK players here.

Let us know how you all get on!

Yes yes!! Good luck to all those UK players that are getting their results, don't worry about them, things can always been re-done, sorted, and Uni isn't the ONLY option.

On the brighter side, I hope you all get good results anyway and have the total freedom of choice SMILEY

Good Luck! <3

I got a triple A in all subjects.

*CENSORED*...I don't even know if that's possible.

Any good resources or anything out there that can explain the A/AS grading system? I've always wondered about that.

I don't even think the UK education system can explain it too well to be honest. Some ministers are saying its getting easier, others saying it's too hard etc...

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell:

  • You start off in your AS year, which is the first of two years in "6th form" - You get to chose 4 subjects for AS, and get to drop one at the end of the year.
  • Each subject course has 3 modules (keep with me here) which all have a set number of points (which determine your grade)
  • The 3 modules combined make up 300 points - some modules have more points than others.
  • These points are carried over at the end of the year into your A2 course, to make a total out of 600:
- So say you do History at AS and get 200/300 points at AS, that's 200/600 at A2. Then you go on to get another 200 points, making 400/600 points for the entire 2 year course. Which is about a B.

  • Universities accept grades and point scores. So if they want 3 Bs, or 1200 points, you can make up 1200 points over all 3 subjects, not just stringently 3 B grades. ( For example: 500, 300, 400, rather than 400, 400, 400)

It's ... really hard to explain, but that's about it. O_o

Silly MP's.

It's funnier when they get asked A/AS level specific questions with regards to future plans and they have no idea what they are talking about. They say it's getting easier/harder but have no idea what it involves... they go only with past results. Instead of thinking the system is getting better and new adults are more educated when leaving school, they just think it's getting easier...

What's even better is that many School leavers now are leaving better qualified than the MP's were...!

A-Levels... Ah, seems so long ago. Oh, wait, it was. SMILEY

When I applied to universities this daft UCAS points system was in effect, but most universities ignored it and just asked for grades. Made things a lot easier. They ranked from A down to E (I think), with a U for 'ungraded' which wouldn't appear in your certificate.

Do you lot still have to do General Studies? I tried to fail that on principle. Wrote an essay on why I wanted to take over the world, and something about the proletariat. I did too well and managed to get an E, blast it. SMILEY
