While we're talking about zones, any devs
care to comment on the progress of improving downtown latency?
Hopefully you are all aware, on Syntax, anyway, that Maribeau and at
least 2-3 other downtown zones are completely "unplayable" due to
completely spiked latency meters.

Please re-assure me that this is being worked on, as I am only 32 and
seeing downtown for the first time (kind of). It's quite a hassle to
have to abort every mission that ventures into one of these problem
zones.

Oh yeah, and is there any plans to actually implement *unique* missions
and more NPCs into MxO now that it calls Sony home? I'd be happy with
1/2 of the NPC and unique quests that EQ2 has...

For the time being, it'll be best not to run missions downtown if you don't have to. It'll probably be some time before the devs get back to working on the latancy issues and come up with a solution.

On of the few things I had time to do tonight was hyperjump around downtown drooling over the fps revolution with draw distance and detail turned allllll the way up.

Man o man I've been feeling reeeeeal pessimistic lately but between the forums and the servers I can't help but get the feeling Sony's gonna actually get this game fully functional!

Downtown seems to be working fairly nicely, some districts are still a little laggy though.

I was downtown last night, and I visited all the usual heavy lag
districts (Chelsea, Baldwin Heights, Hampton Green) and my lag was
around normal, I don't know what it's like today but last night I had a
blast downtown.

It may have just been post server new and shiny-ness, but I was gettin good vibes.

A faction mate was getting lag though, but he was gettin lag in richland as well, so I think that was to do with his computer.

Here's hoping.

I can't complete five Contact Missions because of the latency in that area. SMILEY

Usually, I have no problems with latency in Downtown.  :smileyhappy:  The only hotspots for me are Baldwin Heights and Stratford Campus.  :smileysad:

One thing i don't understand is my latency is showing up fine, but im
still getting a hit with a lag bomb.  Thought it might be hardware
related, but that was never a problem.  Just in case here are the
specs:

Game running at High everything

Athlon 64 3000+ (slightly OC'ed to 2.2Ghz)

1 GB ( 2 x 512) DDR 400 memory

ASUS nVidia 6800 GT  (GDDR3 256MB 256bit)

running on cable modem 3 Mb down, 1 Mb up ( I live rediculously close to Time Warner... hehe w00t go me)

This map was created by my faction mate recently, when he became
curious about just where the lag was.  Please note, the orginal
map is, I belive, from users of Matrix Dojo. I do not the actual user
who created the map, sorry!

And yes, before the switch to SOE, he did submit a /CCR, and has heard exactly....zip.

I've noticed some lag around Union Hill as well, but it's probably just fallout from the latency issues of Baldwin Heights.

This needs to be fixed.  I  don't think they realize how much of a problem it is.
