One day Chicken Little was walking in the woods when --
KERPLUNK -- an acorn fell on her head "Oh my goodness!"
said Chicken Little. "The sky is falling! I must go and tell the
king."

On her way to the king's palace, Chicken Little met Henny Penny.
Henny Penny said that she was going into the woods to hunt for
worms.

"Oh no, don't go!" said Chicken Little. "I was there and the sky
fell on my head! Come with me to tell the king."

So Henny Penny joined Chicken Little and they went along and
went along as fast as they could.

Soon they met Cocky Locky, who said, "I'm going to the woods
to hunt for seeds."

"Oh no, don't go!" said Henny Penny. "The sky is falling there!
Come with us to tell the king."

So Cocky Locky joined Henny Penny and Chicken Little, and
they went along and went along as fast as they could.

Soon they met Goosey Poosey, who was planning to go to the
woods to look for berries.

"Oh no, don't go!" said Cocky Locky. "The sky is falling there!
Come with us to tell the king." So Goosey Poosey joined
Cocky Locky, Henny Penny and Chicken Little, and they
went along as fast as they could.

Then who should appear on the path but sly old Foxy Woxy.

"Where are you going, my fine feathered friends?" asked Foxy
Woxy. He spoke in a polite manner, so as not to frighten them.

"The sky is falling!" cried Chicken Little. "We must tell the
king."

"I know a shortcut to the palace," said Foxy woxy sweetly.
"Come and follow me."

But wicked Foxy Woxy did not lead the others to the palace.
He led them right up to the entrance of his foxhole. Once they
were inside, Foxy Woxy was planning to gobble them up!

Just as Chicken Little and the others were about to go into the
fox's hole, they heard a strange sound and stopped.

It was the king's hunting dogs, growling and howling.
How Foxy Woxy ran, across the meadows and through the forests,
with the hounds close behind. He ran until he was far, far away
and never dared to come back again.

After that day, Chicken Little always carried an umbrella with
her when she walked in the woods. The umbrella was a present
from the king. And if -- KERPLUNK -- an acorn fell, Chicken
Little didn't mind a bit. In fact, she didn't notice it at all.

H4xed

And on that note, g'night all. Hope the game's up soon or this might get stranger than the strangeness it's already experienced.......which would be bad.

Making me nervous...

You know what makes me nervous is that what if this was a security issue and someone cracked / hacked into soe's systems and even obtained the credit card billing info of users.  What would be the excuse soe would give us for that.  Perhaps some people out there who are so happy to just jump to defend soe would look and think much more on my level if that was the issue here.

 - it's a sign of incompetence (and thats all i want to point out)

Actually damage done to the database by a disgruntled former customer or an unrelated third party attempting to datamine were some of my initial thoughts.  The datamining doesn't make me as nervous because they probably wouldn't damage the database.

I have to agree with you're edited in point, some type of natural or man made disaster at the facility that houses the equipment is the only valid excuse at this point.

I'd also agree it's incompetence, but my opinion is it's probably on the side of exec's that don't understand technology and get the responsibility of funding the various budgets.  At my work this is the case.  We constantly do stuff that is completely stupid from a production standpoint.  My superiors simply like to gamble, I like not living under a bridge and all, I do what I can with what they give me.

I'm fairly sure I can remember that about 2 years or so ago, SWG servers got damaged by a flood, but they still didn't roll back, but what're you gonna do?  lol, Hopefully, SOE learns from their mistakes and does whatever miracles to keep saves safe.

That's all for now SMILEY

Looking on the bright side, I have some small hope that whatever got fried is gonna get replaced by a shiny new model.  Maybe, just maybe, will authorise us some funds for buying fresh new servers and such so we can use the old ones for Test/QA etc.  Come on SOE we know you can do it!
