As a way of expanding awareness of the other players on our server, I conduct a weekly player interview reminiscent of the old Beta Player of the Month interview. These interviews are designed specifically for recognition. Each week I will make a new thread featuring a player on the Recursion server.
This week I spoke with Traxada of The Children of the Code. Here's what I found out:

Vesuveus: Firstly, what do you like best about The Matrix Online?
Traxada: What do I like best about MxO? Well ever since I started playing I have always loved the camaraderie that the community has with each other. Its the key point to MxO's success, the community. Whether its the RP'ers, event organisers, RSI idealists, or the l337 coders they all contribute to one of the greatest gaming communities that's its been my pleasure to be a part of.
V: And how long have you been playing The Matrix Online?
T: Hmm can I say too long? I started back during the good old days of beta, somewhere around November 04 I think. Although I can't recall the exact date.
V: What a coincidence I started that very same month. As far as the combat system, what is your favorite move/ability/tree?
T: Hmmm there are a fair few moves and abilities in-game that I am quite fond of, but the most satisfying move in MxO? Got to be punt. My ability tree of choice is Coder.
V: Punt has quite the reputation these days. Tell us what your name means. Why did you choose this name?
T: Sorry to disappoint, although my name may be unique, its origin is rather......anticlimactic. Essentially one day I was staring at a stack of re-writable CD's and I wrote down a variation of the name on a piece of paper, and thus Traxada was born.
V: That actually is rather interesting considering you are a Coder. Now, you have been in Fallen Horizon and recently I see you in The Children of the Code. Tell us a little about these factions.
T: Fallen Horizon is a great faction, full of many, many colourful characters, and the topics that crop up during faction chat would make your hair stand on end. But they are a fantastic group of players, one of the last factions left that Roleplays as hardcore Zionists. Don't see many of them these days.
Children of the code is a faction that I co-founded with Lady3Jane back in december of 2004. Most people know who we are from our exploits in beta, we have had our ups and downs, but we are still here after almost 2 years. Recently we made the jump from Zion to Machine. This is a decision that has been longtime in coming, and it has given many of us a new lease of life in the game. Fantastic players, my brothers till the end.
V: It's been a while since I have seen any members of TCotC. Is TCotC making a comeback?
T: That's what we're planning, we are slowly but surely getting a good playerbase back, and with the transition to Machine going well, I'm sure you will be seeing a lot more of CotC these days.
V: That's cool. I love to see hints of Beta in today's game. Regarding the combat system, tell us how you feel about CR 2.0.
T: I have warmed up to CR2 a lot recently. I welcomed it with open arms when it was announced, because the game needed a serious injection of revitalisation, and CR2 did just that. The only real qualm I have with the system is the lack of rolls. *CENSORED* I miss those rolls.
V: I guess I stand alone, I never liked the rolls. In lag I would roll before I would run. Grr!
Who is your favorite LESIG character and why?
T: My favourite LESIG character? Hmm I think it would have to be the Jokers. They infuriate and confuse everyone who gets close to them, which at the same time is staying true to the shady characters from the trilogy and the animatrix. And I applaud anyone in LESIG who makes an effort to restore a bit more "matrixyness" to MxO.
V: Got any predictions for where the story is going?
T: Well I think it's painfully obvious Morpheus will be making a comeback, and I think we will be seeing the echo of neo make another appearance to possibly tie off the race to find the one event. No doubt the Kid will be behind a maniacal mad scientist attempt to resurrect Neo.
V: haha That doesn't sound impossible. What, if anything, would you like to see added to this game?
T: Hmmm where to start, I would like to see a lot more interesting event characters wandering around, with unique personalities. Also the white rooms and org specific locations of course. And perhaps the introduction of the long forgotten extra districts that were being worked on during beta.
V: As far as the films, what is your favorite scene from the Trilogy and/or Animatrix?
T: My favourite scene would have to be the bathroom fight in The Matrix. The raw intensity of the battle, Smith and Morpheus throwing each other into the walls, the dust, the debris. Its the grittiest fight in the trilogy, and one of the best in my opinion.
V: Which is your favorite quote from the Trilogy, including Animatrix?
T: "There is some truth in your fiction, and some fiction in your truth" ~ Kids story
V: Yeah, I like that one, too. And its my favorite episode in Animatrix. Now, you created Caffinex Comics. What is Caffinex Comics?
T: Caffinex Comics is a website that used to showcase my MxO grapic novels that I used to produce back during beta and into live. Recently I decided to bring back Caffinex, and re-launch it as a community comic website, where our RSI idealists can post their own novels up for public reading, and show the rest of the world how committed the MxO community is. But the re-launch of Caffinex wouldn't be possible without the help of ShadowSK and the MxO Resource. /tiphat
V: And those will both be available on Caffinex.com ?
T: Of course. All my old comics, and new comics from the likes of myself, Pyraci, PBlade, Dragonram, Sykin and more will all be available on Caffinex.com
V: Where did you get the idea to call them the Caffienex Comics?
T: The idea to use an in-game brand is nothing new, Slumberil utilised bluepill lore and the in-game brand to create a fantastic ARG for the beta community. Caffinex was originally an idea devised by myself and its original website creator, Mek. It seemed like the best way to host the comics, while staying relevant to MxO.
V: That's awesome. I am definitely gonna be all over that website. In regards to other media, what is your favorite website for The Matrix movies?
T: I have been a longtime member of MatrixFans.net, I was there for the good times (build up to reloaded) and the bad times (the backlash after revolutions) but I'm still kicking around the old place to this day.
V: And your favorite website for The Matrix Online?
T: MxO Resource is always good for technical game details, such as access keys and locations. But my favourite MxO site was the UK website that was active during beta. It had a fantastic professional design, that rivaled the official DN1 site at the time. Shame it was taken down though.
V: Which radio station do you prefer while gaming?
T: The X radio. Reminds me a lot of the community during the days of RadioFreeZion.
V: That's very true. TXTurbo does a hell of a job. Even with his RadioAthena back in the day.
So, is there anything going down in-game besides the LET storyline that you would like to make the community aware of?
T: The upcoming release of Pyraci's graphic novel "Welcome to the machine" and my own "Tragedy of rebirth 2". And of course the launch of Caffinex within the next few weeks.
V: Nice!Got any tips for better game play?
T: Tap your shoes together 3 times, and pray for server stability? ;P
V: If you were the Roman Emperor would you give the New Forums the thumbs up or the thumbs down?
T: If I were in a coliseum and had the new MxO forums next to a pack of raging lions, and the fate of the forums was dependant on a single flick of my thumb? I can safely say the thumb would go DOWN.
V: haha I may have to agree with you there. Patience Butterflies.
You've rendered some pretty breathtaking pics. What is your approach when working on graphics design?
T: Well I'm nothing special in gfx, there are a lot more community heavy weights that can beat me hands down. But when I start an image I like to think I have no idea what I'm about to create, the only guideline I use is a mental sketch in my head. Don't tell anyone......but most of the time I just blag it ;P
V: Is there anything else you would like to share with the community?
T: To those faithful to MxO stay with us, this is the golden age of The Matrix Online. The community is what keeps MxO alive, we are the life blood of the game. From RP to PVP. Keep with the game, there is a brighter future ahead.
V: Thanks so much, Traxada!
T: No problem Vesuveus, keep up the good work matey!
