Don't you hate it when you find the perfect moment for a screenshot, press F12, then your computer freezes for 30 seconds while MxO saves the shot?  This usually only happens on the first shot in game, but it is still annoying.  I finally found the solution to this problem: move your screenshots to another folder.  I just moved over 1000 jpgs out of my MxO folder.  I figured I would clean up a little and make a "Year 1" folder.  Once I did, the first shot now happens instantaneously.

I used to think that MxO was loading a screenshot engine and that's why there was a delay.  Apparently, MxO is simply searching through all of the jpgs for the next available number.  The more jpgs you have, the longer it takes.  The devs really should just implement a counter in an INI file or something like that, but I doubt this is a priority.

Note that filenames will start over at screenshot_0.jpg, so when it is time to move the files again, make sure you don't overwrite your previous shots.

The words you're looking for are "You're" and "Welcome". SMILEY

This is a good idea and I simply wish to had thought it up sooner. SMILEY

Ah, I thought you might have accidentally deleted your screenshots trying to do this.  *Asterisks* confuse me. :smileytongue:

is there any way to do this without having to move all the screenshots one at a time, dragging each and every one of them?

2 issues with this:

1. Moving my images started the SS lag.

2. The few images I moved caused a gap in my screenshot numbers and basically the first F12 DC'd the game.

And, yes, the devs should get around to fixing this.

Lots of ways.  Probably the easiest though is to just click once on the first one, hold down shift, and click the last one -- then you've got them all selected.  So from there, just press Ctrl-X to cut them, then when you're in another folder, press Ctrl-V to paste them there.

'course, some people's hotkeys might be different, so don't try anything too hasty before testing it!

You could go to Edit > Select all > Cut  then go to another location right click create new folder go in to that and right click paste.

dont forget to do a defrag after each time you move out screenshots.

Also, look up on /resource to find the useropts.cfg trick to where you can have all your screenshots save into a folder and also name your screenshots.

I clean out my screenshots every month because I name them by month/year then move them into a folder on another hard drive with the folder for that months screenshots. eg. /screenshots/april05_01.bmp.

having them in their own folder helps in the fragmentation department as well.

Another option, for those who don't want to move their pictures, could be to simply rename the picture files.  Of course, if you have more than just a handful of pictures, renaming them can be a huge task if you don't have a program to do the job for you (I use Irfanview, which is free and can batch rename and move files).

Personally, I move all of my pictures, but I also rename them to the date I took them.
