I remember a time when this coat was shiny and, for a time, it was good. People wore them for their RP outfits, people liked the looks of them and, for a time, it was good.
But then disaster struck, for some reason the shine was removed, and was never replaced. Of all the people I have talked to not one of them likes the new shineless coat. If people do like them with less shine please say so, however, it would be appreciated if you actually had some experience in the matter (ie your main is a male RSI).
I just want to see if it's possible to have the coat returned to it's former glory.

How long ago was the shine removed? I haven't heard anyone else complain about it. In fact more people were complaining about the added shine to clothing when Rarebit fixed many items of clothing's specularity. I know there was generally a murmur of people not liking the shine on a particular trench...

Yeah, this was just one of the items that received an incorrect amount of specularity. Say no to lamination kids

The Misene panel trench was a Leather coat if I'm thinking of the right one. Leather coats do not have that much shine in real life, experience from actually having a leather coat myself.

If I remember rightly they were made overly shiney, then put down to a better level. Never heard anyone complain before and I'm happy with it.

And on the contrary I have friends with long leather coats that are shiny.

Was it raining? Either that or it wasn't proper leather. I've yet to see a leather coat as shiny in real life as what it was in game before the fix.

Must admit, my short, long and flying leather jackets are not very shiny. I've some friend with shiny 'leather' jackets but they are imitation leather.

Seeming the clothing item is labeled "Misene Panel Trench" I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that it is, in fact, imitation leather. Seeming it's not called a leather trench to begin with.
Cause if it was called Leather you could actually argue the shininess of real leather, but it isn't.

Regardless, changing their specularity again would, imo, be a waste of time. Until now there haven't been any complaints about the lack of shine and since the majority of players did complain that many items were too shiny when specularity was fixed, thus several items had their specularity toned down, it's reasonable to assume that changing this would cause far more complaints then not changing it.
You can't please everyone, but as I said the lack of complaints about it until now seems to indicate either it's an issue that most can and have lived with or the majority is happy the way it is. Of course ultimately its down to the Dev's to decide such things.

Maybe but then if every item in the game was named after the real thing then I guess FM-700's and FM900s and FM1100's would be called Desert Eagles. Personally the whole Secularity before was way too much even for fake leather.

I believe at first they were normal shiny, then when Rarebit tried to up the shiny secularity in some clothing items the database screwed up to where nearly every clothing item looked like it was drenched in oil, and then he finally toned it down, making a lot of things like it used to be, unfortunately the Misene Panel Trench had lost it's original shine and now looks a lot darker. When this first came out, the white trench a lot of people wore looked really dirty for some reason so he cleaned that up, and when I asked if you could fix the Panel Trench he basically said he couldn't go in and fix every different coat in the game just because a few people want their personal attires back the way to when it used to be. So, I guess that's that.

Pleather FTW! Anyhow, Pylat, a small suggestion that may bring more eyes to this thread is to change the subject of the thread to "Shine texture and Misene Panel Coats" or something like that. Personally I prefer the other coats, but I'll support this. /sign

I liked the original look of the coats best, and I actually have worn a few of them in my RP clothing almost since I first started in MxO. When they went shiny, along with almost everything else in that patch, the effect was way way way too noticeable on the panel trenches. As said, it looked like they had been dipped in cooking oil. People complained about this and they were changed to their current look which, to my memory at least, does really look darker and dingier than their original appearance. In fact, I actually prefer the shiny look to the "new" one, if I had to choose between the two.
My preference, with 1 being the best: 1.) Original appearance 2.) Shiny appearance 3.) Current appearance
