Well, you have to keep in mind that with each installment of the Terminator series (1, 2, 3, T:SCC), the future timeline has been altered a little bit more. The future that will be depicted in Terminator Salvation won't necessarily be the future we've seen prior to now. But, you see, this is where things get interesting. Terminator Salvation is supposed to be the first in a new Terminator trilogy, taking place after Judgment Day. If things do not happen in this future (Terminator Salvation) that occured in the previous future (T1, T2, T3, T:SCC), then the events leading up to this movie will have never happened, creating a paradox. Doctor Emmet Brown's head would explode, if we were to ever map out the implications on the space-time continuum that would presumably occur with each installment of this franchise.

even in the trailer John says this isnt the same future that his mother told him about.

Exactly. That doesn't necessarily make it any less Terminatorey, does it?

oooh man, dont say that, now your gonna go and my hopes all up. Are you SURE I'm going to be pleased? Do you know just how I feel about the franchise as a world full of history and lore? I hope your right, so far I'm gonna say it looks good but I still think it has a chance of screwing up. time will tell

Yes I do understand your love of the Terminator's saga. I would have thought that you'd watch the midnight show last night. Best way to watch a movie is to have no expectations at all; so that you enjoy the movie as to what it is.

I've gotten to the point where I'd rather see a movie early in the day so there arent so many breathers packed around me in the theater. Plus usually its cheaper. However we are actually about to leave for the theater as I write this, so in due time

well just got back and, I'm not tottaly pleased, but it was somwhere between ok and good. The last 45 mins of the film was definitly better then the 1st half, I like the direction they went, just didnt feel very terminator for that 1st hour, which is kinda what I expected from the beginning i think. Over all the whole movie felt like a build up to Terminator 5.

So was listening to the morning show. They have some Dbag holywood reporter. He said that Arnold wasnt the first guy to be considered for it. OJ simpson was, But He lacked that Killer image so it wouldnt be as believable if OJ was the terminator.

that was also in an article on yahoo news just the other day... Also Arnold was orginally adutioning for the Kyle Reese character and play the hero, but they thought he would be better for the villian since he only had a few words of dialog. In other words, he could barly speak english at the time.
