This may not be hardware-related, but since I get "failed" messages when trying to connect to support from within the game, please indulge me. While hyper-jumping downtown, the game suddenly crashed and I was back on my desktop. Ever since, I have been unable to log on with that character. I select the name of the character, the process starts (you know, the regionserver, loading character. etc.), and just when it is saying "loading world" it crashes. All day so far. Other characters of mine on the same server do not have this problem, just this one. Anyone else have this happen, or know of anything like this? And if the ingame support was working, I wouldn't be putting this here. Telling me to try ingame support yet again would not constitute a solution...

Makes you crash more often since switching resolution causes more load.

My usual character has no trouble whatsoever, nor do most of my other alts and mules. Just this one character I've been leveling. So I'm thinking it's not likely my computer or all the characters would have the same problem. It might have been somehow related to the hyperjump.

Which method do you use to log in? I had something that sounds similar though I didn't crash. I use the auto log in method, and that logs you in at your last used HL no matter where you jack out. The last HL I used was down (Red on the list) which means when I jacked it, it just hung on the end of the loading screen. All my other characters were fine, and I solved it easily by logging in manually which sent me straight to the Loading Area so I could use a HL that wasn't down. This problem probably isn;t the same as yours but it sounded similar so I thought I'd just give the details incase.

I'm seeing the exact same thing. It's just one character and it doesn't really matter which method you use to log in. Using the shortcut that jacks you into the last known HL makes you crash more often since it causes higher load while changing the screen resolution. Sometimes it crashes while using hardlines, going to the LA or hyperjumping since the client loads some data it might have to use...

If it's crashing for only one RSI and not the others, chances are that the crash interrupted a file write in your profile.
Save a copy of your profiles folder in your MxO installation folder, then delete the profile of the character that keeps crashing. you will need to copy your pblip.cfg file back to get you map markers back and you will lose your hotbar settings for that RSI.
If that doesn't work then just restore the backup.

I found a solution (if not _the_ solution). I tried logging on with the affected character, but on a different coimputer. That worked, and then afterwards I was able to get it to work on the original computer as well. Go figure!
