How the hell do you 'Stagger' an opponent??

I have Ki Charged Punch, and for ages now I haven't been able to stagger an opponent to use it..

I've tried dealing out all different types of attacks, but none work..

Anyone have any ideas? (I'm Karate MA btw..)

Power attack, the red punch button will do the job.

If you have Precise Blows or Energise attacks it seems to prevent the state from being achieved.

Try turning either one of those off I you should be able to achieve it if you use the red attack mode, but I can't remember what it is called.

Thanks Guys..

I use the Power/Speed/Retaliate attacks all the time..

But I also use Precise Blow/Energised Attacks/Punishing Blows..

So I'll try switching them off..
