Well what I have a problem with is how this all was implemented.  They release a new expansion with content specifically made for Creature Handlers and Bio-engineers, then THE VERY NEXT DAY come back and say that those 2 professions will no longer be in the game.  You entice people to buy a product for content that will be defunct in 2 weeks, but only tell them that after they bought it?

Then they release "NEW EXCITING CHANGES" on a test server for 11 days.  Then release it with so many game breaking bugs it's ridiculous.  There line is "give us 6 months to fix all the bugs."  My line is "don't release a crappy peice of software then make me pay to beta test it".  Because that's all SWG subscribers are now, paying beta testers.

Smugglers still can't smuggle - crafting is useless now because you can pick up something off any random NPC that is better than what a crafter can make - group communication is not existent because you are trying to hit the 15 buttons at once you need to kill one monster 20 lvls below you - 90% of the people are jedi - specials don't work as intended and do not go off in time - interior decorating is dead, you can't lock on any objects to move them, you have to try and keep the mouse on it and move it at the same time.  Forget trying to layer or move objects behind or in front of other objects.  What's the point of "cool new loot" (that's actually quoted from SOE's statement on the NGE) if you can't display it.

SWG is dead, even if they do attract new subscribers, those people will be gone in a month once they figure out there's nothing to do after lvl 30 (or even before lvl 30 because the mission that makes you lvl 30 is bugged).  Plus, what do you do when you get to 90?  You can't change your profession, you can't try something new, all there is to do is delete and restart.  That's not what the game was about.  It's a truly a shame such an interesting and diverse game has been turned into a linear FPS lagfest.

Sorry to say, it's not much different than MxO right now in that aspect!

but MxO still has the 'fun' element in it.

I played SWG from beta until just recently, and I must say that I have never been more disappointed in an MMO before. They slowly destroyed the game until it was just a mere image of what it once was. I admit that they may have released the game a bit to soon, seeing as how there weren't any Jedi, Player Cities, Vehicles, Mounts, or Spaceships... but that all changed in time.

I froze my account for a few months and came back just as the new Combat Upgrade (CU) was launched. Although I was disheartened to see that my TKM/Doctor was no longer "ub3r l33t" so to speak, I was impressed by all of the new additions they had added. For the time being, I was able to truly say that the CU was in-fact an improvement. The game continued getting better with the release of the JtL expansion. Heck, even the RotW expansion wasn't half-bad. But the most recent NGE has completely and utterly destroyed this game...

For over a year I casually ground my way to Jedi, and I almost unlocked it to. But I heard rumors in some magazine that SWG had switched to a new system where the style of fighting was more like Diablo 2. I also heard the most shocking rumor of all, which said that they had gotten rid of the skill point system and implented a permenant class system. To me that was taking away the very thing that made SWG unique.

Anyways, I logged on and was asked to choose a profession. Seeing as how I was working towards unlocking a Jedi for so long, I decided to choose just that. The result was ridiculous. I was converted into a cl86 Jedi and given free robes, lightsabers, and other such force items. I had gone from a Jedi potential to near master in the click of a button.

Besides taking all of the fun out of the game, it also drove off almost every single person I knew in the game. Every city besides Mos Eisley is deserted, including the old hotspots like Theed and the Mining Outpost. New added content is half-assed and repetitive, leaving nothing to look forward to in the game. So after two years of an amazing MMORPG, I, like so many others have deleted my account. Since SOE has stated that they will not be changing from the NGE, I don't think I'll ever reactivate my account. Now I will sample all of my old and new MMO's to find something as great as SWG used to be.

To SOE: *CENSORED*...?

Well I decided to get the stationpass to check out SWG.. I quit over a year ago, I had just gotten Jedi Padawan.

I log on and the system compinsates me, in two seconds I am a lvl 71 jedi. As nice as that is i notice everyone is running around as a jedi. Its somewhat like Knights of the Old republic Online. That aside the general coumminity seems to have died, I was the only one running around in Cornet. I don't know if thats where the general community hangs out anymore though it was when i was playing.

So overall it seems pretty good just alittle more less populated then before.

I bought SWG at launch, played for a few months then gave up on it because it was boring as hell. I went back a couple of times and never lasted more than 1 month before giving up again. I tried it again after NGE...and am still playing! I love what NGE has done for the game! It is exciting and fast paced now! I play on the StarSider server and there is a nice population there! You see alot of veteran players there as well!

SWG.... Its fun but like everyother game it gets boring.     Jedis galore   and no ones in the cantinas anymore..  its not as fun since the update.    If you were going to get swg I would say atleast you didnt make friends on it before the update.   Because they probably left without giving you contact info so you feel bad because cant have good times again.

Just orderd it off play.com that second......been having a go at the trail version and this game is very very good, i try commando, smuggler and jedi, i think commando is the best because everyone goes jedi and theres no real difference in pvp and from what ive heard on the swg forums a commando can hold his own against a jedi SMILEY

It's very, very different to the original version of SWG. It's faster paced now, and more simplified. Whereas pre-CU, it took you 6+ hours of playing everyday to be even competitive within 6 months, now, you can equal vets in around 1 month.

It's a Action RPG which is similar to Neocron in it's combat system.

Well as a new player to MxO thanks to the SWG sub to Station pass upgrade, I have to tell you there are a lot more then 43 people on Corbantis and it's not even the big pop server. Bria is more populated than Corbantis.

I see people in the quest bunkers, hawking their stores at the starports (and there are dozens of starports)

I'm not saying there are as many players as there were pre-NGE, but it's definately not a ghost town.

Space is fun, I like the pseudo-FPS combat and it's starting to have a lot of quests. The bugs are still there but the devs have said they are making bug fixing their number one priority.

But none of that matters. Here is what does. It's free for 10 days, get on and see if YOU like it. If you don't cool. If you do, make your server Corbantis and send Osekai a tell, i will set you up with Starship supplies and I have alts that would be happy to quest with anyone.
well that's my take anyway.

SWG is like someones first love.  They change over time, some get fat and some cut there hair but no matter what they do, u will always love them.

SWG was my first real mmorpg,  its about to hit a year for me playing and I still have a ton of stuff to do in it. The only problem is none of my friends or guild really plays the game anymore.  No matter what they do to it, I'll keep playing it, It was my first and u can't walk away from your first.  As for mxo the only reason why I still have this account is because of the station pass.

U picked the wrong time at that point, the NGE just hit and alot of poeple where very very upset. at this point people r starting to learn how to plan with the nge and now wanting more content and bug fixes. Of couse, Myself would love a Rollback, but that ain't gonna happen. NGE is very easy to get use to, so If u have any questions about the game just pm me and I'll let u know everything u need to do to get u started with the game.
