These are the greatest reasons for a merge/transfer.
I've wished I could transfer to Syntax for over a year now, pretty much ever since Machinists disappeared from Recursion, since I've noticed they're a mostly class element over there.
I have a level 20 over there, and everybody's real nice whenever I play. Recursion is generally... Well, not so much.

Im in the same vote as Eval on this one, I try'd leveling on recursion but most were pretty rude so i said screw it and went back to syntax.
Though to be fair anyone going to any other server can say the same. I've been ignored when asking simple questions/told to 'go back to recursion' etc. on both vector and syntax by some very unfriendly people. Then occasionaly i meet some nice people who help me out.
Just depends who you run into first i guess.

very true Dulux, anyways this whole merger thread has taken a completely different route... so yeah if the merger or something similar gets done, well it gets done.. i hope you all have fun over there in syntax.
Some of us from Recursion have encountered alot of hostility when trying to play on Syntax, especially as a group. And while it certainly won't make us leave the server, it does reflect badly on those who'd like us to.

I'm from Vector But I know what you mean about Syntax. I've still got a level 42 there, Because I like the hostility that is aimed towards me. I've only got to level 13 on Recursion Not because of the players Nor because of the hostility, I just havn't had the time yet.
I've never had a problem with anyone on Recursion...I dare say.
lol yeah the hostility aimed towards vectorites over on syntax (mainly been from the one faction might i add) is rather quite amusing to say the least. I'm suppose to believe that the pvp over there is better (which quite frankly it ain't) when you get these people constantly hurling abuse at you and wait till your interlocked to flag up ha ha
and yeah, i'v saw it happening over on vector aswell
Vectors population has just picked up over the past 3 months i'd say. April - July was fairly dead and the most you'd see pvpn was like 5 or 6 a side. Now vector is rocking as it should be
Okay, so if people on whatever server were nice to people from other servers would that encourage more people to go play there? Because if a bit of manners is all that's required then suddenly this whole discussion looks a bit silly.
Its silly to enter in arguments like "most people over Recursion are rude", cause that has NOTHING to do with what we were discussing here. Keep in mind, lots of people you find in Recursion are in Syntax too, so by saying Recursionites are rude, you are saying that about people in Syntax too. People are rude no matter the server, and nice no matter the server. We are ALL MXO, 98% of us have characters on the 3 servers... its not like "Uh im logging to Syntax let me be nice now". We all are the Community of this game. So please lets not start silly arguments like that.

No point in shutting down servers we all play on.
I would warn against a merge, but for different reasons than those that might be expected.
As I see it, reducing to one or two servers would be an admission of failure. It would be politically damaging (from an SOE perspective), as senior staff would see an already minority game being further reduced in its capacity. Were the down-scaling not to produce tangible improvements, it would simply serve to justify the eventual dissolution of the MMO completely.
As previously mentioned, the recent changes to Live Events will encourage all players to generate new characters on each of the servers, should they wish to participate. I speak from personal experience, as I have recently generated a character on Vector, solely for this reason.
In starting the grind again, I have come to reminisce as to the satifaction which is offered from achieving a new Neuro-kinetic level, or some other minor objective. I will probably never pose any real threat on the server, as faction maintenance will ensure that the majority of my time is spent on Syntax. However, it is certainly nice to have the option of a character on another server for a change of pace.
As for suggestions that one server or another holds an elitist attitude, I don't believe that is the case. If I have ever taken a dislike to someone, it would be due to their attitude rather than which server they had come from. As subscriber numbers have declined, I believe that many players have strengthened their links with each other and now we have a far stronger community spirit. Whilst I baulk from being part of any clique, I believe it is healthy to hold a mutual respect for each other, and our continuing support of MxO.
In summary, it seems premature to speak of merging servers until the repercussions of Rarebit's recent changes can be gauged. Let's keep the option of server merges for a far "darker" time, when it might be offered to SOE manangement as a way to prevent the game stopping entirely.

Yes it does. You're asking for merg because there's no one playing on your server anymore, when being rude to new players and pushing them over to the other servers could be your reason for a dead server.

You are generalizing, not everyone are the same. Some people from Syntax are rude too, and many are nice... cant jugde everyone for the action of others. People leave for many reasons...

No, I'm not. I said it does have something to do with the topic when you said it didn't.
No need no more.
