Two more logs, and the site will have hit the 1,000 logs mark (note that this number includes the entries for the various character/item details, documents, unarchived missions, etc.)

I'd like to use this time to inform everyone that the site now has free screenshot hosting.  Plus, there's a new search system, so you don't have to rummage through a mountain of logs to find something you're looking for.

And I'd like to remind everyone that absolutely anyone can contribute to the site.  The logs can be for old or current events.  And if you feel the need to keep a log or screenshot to yourself for the time being, then that's perfectly all right.  My site isn't going anywhere anytime soon. ^_~

Grats on the impending landmark. It's a great Archive and an added search function is just what was needed! (^.^)

Isn't there a few you've made that I haven't received yet?  Or was that Zudrag?  Either way, take your time.  I'm in no hurry. ^-^

Probably both of us, I normally just leave my chat log running from when I log in to when I log out. So there's a fair amount of stuff I've got, I just need to sort through about 100mb of chat log ~_~

Heh, I know what you mean.  But I usually let mine run, then after a week or two I move the chat log file to a different place on my computer.  I put a bunch of numbers and/or letters after the file's name so it doesn't accidentally copy over another chat log file.  When I start the game again, a new chat log file is created.  I do this so I don't get one giant chat log.

But that still means I've got a lot to go through.  Note that I've only got up to chapter 9.1 up on the site. -_-

Yeah, I made the mistake of not making a new chat log for months on end. It got to the stage where it would take about a minute to load the text file if I needed to access it. SMILEY

I shall get my teeth into it eventually. >_>

That's cool.  Take your time.  To me, it's not a matter of when I get a log, but if I get one.

I wonder how much work it would mean if Dracomet or any of the Dev's decided to put in a numbered incrementation for chat logs the same way that screenshots are numbered and incremented. So instead of one big log, you had smaller ones. One for each time you start and stop a log...

That'd be pretty neat, actually.

For someone like me who logs everything (and I'm glad to see I'm not alone in that SMILEY), that'd be a log file for every time I jack in, which is a scary prospect. People can divide log files up themselves with a bit of pattern matching. Personally I have a log file for every month, weighing in at about 3MiB each. That's not too bad to do oneself.

I don't think Proc will get any more dirty /tells now... SMILEY

I only thought that it'd be easier for people to find the pertinant conversation in a single day's log or smaller than it would do in a months worth (Using Proc's example) or so but I guess if you're used to it then it's fine...

/shrug

BTW is there a useropts line that can be used to change the location where the log is written to? I got my screenies sent to a custom folder and would love to have the chat log written to a folder in the same directory...

I love Archival Science. Just the tagline, "In A Post-War Simulation"... it's all very professional and authentic sounding. And useful for inspiration. I understand I'm infamous for not getting back on requests from people for graphics, but I'd definitely be willing to cook up something nice in recognition of this landmark for the site and for your hard work, Othinn.
