I sincerely doubt SOE will even consider this, it makes them money.
Well let's see how far SOE gets charging $15/month for a game they've committed to no longer supporting and developing. Heck, why not increase the subscription fees to $20/month?
Sure I'd love a price cut but at what price would this price cut be? I'm not at the point where I'm ready to yank my sub, however if these 'economic times' get really bad I may have no choice but to cut discressionary spending for a while.
But so far & pbbly b/c I havent been playing that long, I haven't done all the neighborhood contact missions nor have done the all the archieve missions of all 3 orgs. Sure I miss the stuff that went on B4 when I was starting out - the stuff that made MxO extra special.
But I did start running with my Vector RSI & its been a blast learning almost all over again (like always be aware of your surroundings while even just farming Red Frags in Historic lest you allow Synapze777 to 'smite' you ) . One's pulse does quicken as you are either closing in for a kill or trying to flee from one - so far that's still fun even if the killing or fleeing were not that day successful - and worth the fee I still pay.

Don't get me wrong that's great...you've caught the essence of Vector right there, and I hope there's a mini-renaissance or uptick of people trying Vector. Thats exactly why I feel I'm a better player for having come up on Vector back in the day.
Although even I am finally getting to the point where I have literally done everything, seen everything and have everything I could ever hope for, there's still some little things I might not have gotten round to and am looking forward to. But the day will come when all is exausted even for you. And people are no longer going to be able to justify an mmo with no content and no development at that price indefinately.
I wish SOE would do something, anything to incentivise us to stay. Not to mention that I and many others are in danger of losing our jobs if the economy gets worse. Then, the decision will be completely out of my hands, whether I want to sub or not, I wont even have that option. If the price were brought down then I might be able to squeeze it in. Because in a few months, it would be better to have five hundred subscribers at $5/month than 50 subscibers at $15 a month....

Better all around I think with '500' for SOE & us players - a one player MMO is not so fun. Region-based fees might be helpful too - (previously was mentioned Euro costing). A friend playing from St Petersburg is still expected to pay a rather high price relative to her regional economy - sometimes it's not possible. You are right though, there will come a time when I've done all I wanted and more importantly all my friends have gone to another game or just gone.

Well I'm not saying it play out exactly that way...I'm still hoping against hope that some type of effort is made to retain us or even pull more of us in. It would be nice if our Producer would touch base with us.
Bottom line? Maintaining a monthly subscription MMO with no development and no content and no communication from above, at the same rate, indefinitely, is a BAD IDEA. No good will come of it. That I do know. Pretty common sense if you ask me.
I am glad that we still have Virrago.
That being said, the only thing that we have really heard from Walrus was at the anniversary party. He indicated MXO's "future was unclear". Well, even a tenative statement from him would be better then what we have now, which is nothing.
For those of us that only have MXO accounts rather then the Station Pass, we are paying the same rate as SOE charges for games that continue to have developers. I will gladly keep on paying the $15 a month if we get at least some sort of communication going with Walrus, or for that matter, anyone connected with development at SOE again..
If it could be established that "MxO's future is unclear" meant that we had some sort of future to look forward to at all, I would feel a great deal better.
I want a future, I want to continue to be a customer to SOE for as long as they operate this game. But how long am I going to be expected to pay nearly $20 (I'm in the UK, so I pay more than American subscribers) for nothing, except the odd appearance at a party (which is a pretty lame way to interact with customers, considering we're scattered across the globe and some of us work shifts) where Walrus says something so vague that it could be interpreted in at least three different ways?
1/ It means SOE don't know if they're even going to be operatng the game beyond next week, as their mismanagement of it means they'll probably be able to shut it down due to subscriptions levels falling beyond the point where their contract states they can legally be compelled to keep it going. (The one I think is most likely.)
2/ It means SOE are thinking of selling it to a different company. (Which would be sort of like a leper trying to sell his infection to a healthy person.)
3/ It means that SOE have definitely got plans to continue the game, intend to appoint a sucessor to Rarebit and just don't know when that'll be and what the details are. (Hoo har, hee hee hee, hahahahahahaAAAAAAA!!!!! Oh, it is to laugh!)
