I am sure I need not mention the amount of Bluepills that would die if the System were to break... And for anyone who doesn't understand why New Zion was considered a threat, here is the reason.
Morpheus and others like him called for violence against the system (and the bluepill population) even before New Zion was completed...and some redpills heeded that call to violence. Now, with a safe, inpenetrable base for Zionites to retreat to, those that want to act on their hatred of the Machines will be even more likely to commit acts of terrorism. Illyria

This is yet again another one of those "Uuuuugh" events. These fake Morpheus clone events are getting rather... old. Real fast. I disagree. The Machines Morpheus has a specific purpose that I must say I'm interested to see if they can pull it off. (after watching a bit of last nights event im not really sure if they can) and the General's Morpheus is probably one of the more "deeper" characters we have that isn't some cut and past org leader/second in command. Both show promise in expaning on areas the Movies never touched.

((And I like how these keep bringing up the still unresolved plot point about Neo's remains - I imagine this will have some connection to the Mystery Man))

Illyria As Zion worries about the acts of terrorists that the Machines sponsor? Please, each organization has those fanatics, but in the past all three organizations worked together to stop them. By declaring war, the Machines actually increased their chances of succeeding, because now you will not have help from Zion. Bravo! Three cheers for the Machines! Also, The Machines may have forced Zion to work more with terrorists in order to survive. Still, it is sad to see that the Machines do not even try to understand the position of their enemies. Know this, they beat humanity before because our people made grievous errors in that long ago war. We have learned, we have lived, and we have persisted, even if it was at their discretion. We will not make the same mistakes again. By falling prey to the fears that Zion is either filled with terrorists or wishes to commit terrorist actions itself, the Machines have shown that they are in a way, human. They are scared. -Cykosis

We will defend and actively continue to walk towards the path of being above ground. Until then, we fight.

Just to clear it up for those who haven't grasped as much from the latest intelligence leak - sorry, report - we no longer have a Morpheus simulacrum.
