I feel the exp gain from datamining does not come close to measuring up with the info gain...my level 48 is pulling in over 100k per tap in datamine, yet only 1-3k experience per? Seems out of whack imo..the exp doesn't need to be huge...but i would think something in the 15-25k range in Datamine would better match the info gain.

Been mentioned a couple of times, and yeah still think it needs a bit of an increase. As you said not to much but just enough to lvl up a bit. 2 - 3k is nothing, especially at the later levels. Even though i can see me doing a bar in < 20 mins killing spawns.

Agreed. The XP should be increased a little, nothing dramatic though. If the DataMine luggable boosts info, it should also boost XP, imo.

Agreed! I started data mining on one of my lowbie alts, and while the $i yields are about what I expected -- $i2,000 or so a tap -- the experience yields are all over the map: I've seen as high as 500 and as low as ...46.

There's a correlate to this in other games, and I think it's the reason XP is staying so low: $i and XP farming are two separate things. You want quick XP from level 40 on, you do robot parts, which if I'm remembering right don't give $i if you go for XP. On the other hand, you have data mining to get your $i. Disassociating the two means more grind and more playtime.

Datamining is a fun unique alternative I would support this change to add a little more variance.

Well data mining was a long-neglected child until Rare and Friends made some tweaks. Now I regularly hear about people going into the data mine construct to collect $i, meaning the whole point of data miner is now fulfilled and people are using it frequently. A boost to XP would not be necessary to make it more popular, and might cause a bit of the focus to switch away from the action-grind with guns and fists and such to a data grind. That's how I'd look at it.

I don't disagree. It just looks to me like Rare doesn't want data mining to be a significant way to level up.

And it shouldn't be. However, a little boost in XP would be not only convenient but beneficial. As dull as the standard missions are, it'd be nice to find a suitable alternative, albeit not necessarily a comparable one, to dreaded grind. Also, one can argue that the implementation of the XP amplifier could lend credence to the notion that Rarebit does wish to offer some form of XP compensation for anyone willing to commit time to the "art". At level, I was maxing around 2,600 XP. I can get more for decompiling Enhanced clothing >_> Lastly, Zero One parts do actually give both info and XP. As do Decaying Code, Chopper Keys and Demonhead Medallions.

1-2k per tap, tapping isn't hard to do, and how long does it take per tap? Get a reasonable estimate of experience per minute and compare it with blasting through missions to make the case, and you'll have a good argument. Edit: I said "blasting through level 4s." Does it show that I'm playing EVE? >_>

As much as i would agree with any help to get through the ludicrous grind, data mining would still remain useless to players under 45, since there's pretty much no nodes you can tap at that level. Kellner, nc, gbc or goons? Or are you against naps?

Who says I'm not part of -a-?
No, kidding. I was in an IAC-friendly alliance called Vanguard right before IAC got pwnzor'd out of 0.0 by -a-. Vanguard's moved to Venal but we're not friendly with NC I don't think. Just there to shoot anything red. Edit to remain on topic: data mining doesn't need incentives for people to use it anymore, so why bother changing it again is probably the thinking here.

garu seems to get my point..I'm not saying make it an easy way to level, but it's scaled far too low at the moment... like he said if you get more exp for decompiling a piece of clothing at the same level, what's the point of the exp?
Also the slight tweak could be made to apply to datamining anywhere in the game.I'm not saying make it the huge exp gain that 01 parts are..just something worth toying with for characters under 50.
