Anome... You're a bad boy! Go to your room, before I spank you!

One by one you watch your soldiers all fall down. Your world is crumbling Anome and unless you face your past it will overrun and consume you.

Warning: In the rear-view mirror of life, consequences are closer than they appear.

Good... We can take the heat... draw Anome's fire from the blue pills.

Check it out... he's so powerful he can't jack out... imagine if EPN HAD drunken those vials.. that would have been ironic.

How does master-shadow respond to Anome's implode or his laser pew pew? Has anyone tried to pretend to be his father's ghost?

Here is something I've been trying to get my head around since this whole mess started... If the codes prevent the user from jacking out, and Anome was never meant to jack out (he certainly has trouble dealing with the concept of real vs matrix), perhaps anome is acting like an anti-morpheus.

He seems to be attracting those that would normally reject the simulation to him like some sort of demented lightening rod. So if they are being grounded to the simulation by a "closet cypherite" (for want of a better term) then what is that doing to the stability of a system that is suposed to offer choice.

Anyone else notice how green things are looking these days? I know the Oracle has. It does not bode well.

As for how to defeat Anome... I kind of feel sorry for him, like a kid that thinks he's playing a game, but the game has real results (think space-invaders with real ships), he doesn't seem to have a terrific grip on reality.
How hard would it be to create a virtual prison, A constrauct where Anome was ruler and had his face on everything, where every virtual inhabitant worshiped him.
Isolate him then confront him with his mother.

We don't really know what the deal with his mother is though, he could kill her, he could just want to ask her why she left him.

One thing is for certain... Anome MUST confront his past. He must reconcile with his mother's ghost.

Monitor Zion? Pfft. The machines can't even monitor the Matrix properly, otherwise there would no exiles in hiding.

Baby steps ... After some 6 million years not even humans have mastered the art of self-surveilance. We are so good at hiding things that we are able to lie to ourselves... and believe the lie!

He murdered innocent Bluepills.  He's not going to be rewarded with his own fantasy-land construct.

Reward?! Not quite what I meant We don't know how Anome will react and he is clearly too powerful to be taken down without some form of deception. What I was proposing is that we should learn all that we can from Anome and his situation. If we flat-out attacked him he would probably go nuts and the results would be ... unpredictable.

Isolate him then introduce him to his mother (RSI fake obviously)... think of the bluepills that would save

How about the in-game financial issues this would cause?

Imagine how much info would be required to level something to 60

Imagine the increase in info earnt from missions

Imagine a lvl 55 doing 3 missions and being able to just gift loose change to another player and level their abilities to 20. Market values would rise to billions... I don't really understand how some people have so much info... I barely have more than 2 or 3 thousand at any one time

Yes... people who were rewarded for signing up as a pre-purchase should lose that reward as unique. Why not make the assassin's mask codable too. I know! lets' just give everybody everyability and turn off damage completely. Then you can all be ne0 and the game would totally suck. Yay now we're all winners!

... did I say winners... I meant whiners.

Life isn't fair stop trying to make it that way with litigation.

If you really want the ability resign under the trial transfer all your stuff to the new RSI and  then cancel your main account. It's the same as when a mobile phone company rewards new customers and ignores existing ones.

I pre-paid specifically so I would get the pre-pay bonus and I will not see a paid for advantage nerfed by sooky babies. I sprayed the assasin (didn't get a killing shot) and you don't see me going on for pages about why I should get a mask and it's not fair.

Killing is always the easy way out.

Remember, the Oracle can not tell you what is right and wrong. Only what you need to hear.

Here's a phase that you might want to consider: Mutally Assured Destruction
I don't suppose too many of you remember the cold war between Russia and America. The short version:

  • USA: Let's make ourselves safe *builds nukes*
  • Russia: We feel threatened by America, we must defend ourselevs *builds nukes*
  • Both: If you blow us up we blow you up

It's the old paradox of living in a imperfect and agressive world "To obtain peace we must prepare for war".

With great power comes great responsibility, peace through simplicity is the key.
When was the last time you saw two rice farm workers tear each other apart over control of an Ox?

Who would make you Judge, Jury and executioner? Anome has done wrong. He has killed many.
However... He has killed (and in fact they were until recently his only focus) many blue-pills, but wasn't he lead to believe (and Caboloco's last words reinforce this) that "it's all fake, none of it's real". Would you consider yourself a murderer for slaughtering millions of in-game characters to win said computer game?

Anome is INCREDIBLY powerful, but as a Zionite I don't particularly wish to increase the Machines' hold over us. The Oracle mentions their current policy (if it's a problem, delete it. if it isn't a problem, wait for it to become a problem then delete it) of delete not rehabilitate. Even the machines admit that taking him down is a one-shot chance of great difficulty. Perhaps there is another way. Our greatest successes have been with mind games. Unlimit's defeated by their own greed, obsession or predictability.

Anome's childhood is obviously a key point and perhaps can be used to our advantage... like a deft touch to the right pressure point and knowing a joint's limits, can turn an attacker's power against them. The whole concept of Aikido is based around this.

There is a reason that in the late 20th century mentally ill people were incacerated in facilities for rehabilitation and care. They can not always be held responsible for their actions.

Do not misunderstand me. I am not advocating Anome's innocence. He has killed many, with malice. But we should not be too hasty in jumping to the conclusions the machines would like us to jump to.

There is always a choice... when the time comes will you be brave enough to make the right one?

((Awesome little event... I'd gladly give my left nut to have been there. I have a great many questions to ask the Oracle.))

*cough* phase 2

... Hearbeat or not... be wary of following a false idol.

Why would the machines attack and crush us in the real when they can fool us into willingly following their false shepards?
As much as I would like to meet Neo, Trinity or Morpheus I would have to be somewhat untrusting unless they could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were themselves and not simulacra.

The Oracle on the other hand...  I trust that she is whom she says she is... but her motives remain questionable.

Also I noticed that the Oracle said that the machines brought her to the matrix. Does that mean that she previously served another purpose in 01 or perhaps somewhere else? Or it could be simply that the Oracle was compiled and then brought to the newly built Matrix.

Never forget that even though there is a truce in place the machines will still try to keep us humans in check. If they can do it by subterfuge rather than brute-force then that sounds more efficient.

What is love? It is just a word...

... What matters is the meaning it conveys.

I know Ghost thinks that Agents were much easier to hate when they looked like tax collectors... but Agent Pace.

Again I see what appears to be coniving machines. Agent Pace's feelings may be real (whether she understands them or not) but she seems to be just another tool for them to attemp to unite and lead humans like sheep.

I'm with Ghost... I don't trust them. Think about it; Neo's effigy, A machine controlled simulacra of Cryptos/Neo/Morpheus, The Oracle... All would be followed and defended to the death by loyal followers that would be decieved all too easily. Why should the machines try to drive us towards a goal, when they can lead us and make us think that it was our idea all along.

It's classic psycho-manipulation. How do you get a rebel to do what you want? Tell them not to do it. Then give them a cool role-model that does the pseudo-rebelious act.

Be very careful.

It's Neo's conversation with the Oracle all over again. (As close as I can remember without referring to the recording)

N: "I'd say you're a program from the Machine world."

O: "Bingo!"

N: "So I suppose the most obvious question is 'How can I trust you?'"

O: "Mmmm. It's a doozey alright."

...

O: "You'll just have to make up your own *CENSORED* mind kiddo. No one else can do it for you."

Do we trust them as individual entities as we would a human? Or is it "You're one of them. You can't be trusted as your deep-down loyalties lie with the machines."

I'm guessing that you are running either windows 2000 or XP.

If so, make sure you have administrator privilages on your login account and write access to the directory that MxO is installed in.

To do this when on a network (ie. at work) you will probably need to be granted local administrator rights on your machine.

To do this go to:
control panel => user accounts

then add your account and set it as administrators (you may need someone with admin access to do this for you)

Thsi will only grant you administrator on your machine and not on the network.

I realise I'm probably chiming-in a little late here but the problem is a combination bug between the ATI 9xxx chipset and the drivers. Under certain conditions the Shader pipes were incorrectly translating & rounding x,y,z values for polygon verticies. The closest thing I can compare it to for the gaming layman is the old "hall of mirrors" effect in Doom 1 & 2. (to those who actually write games I know this isn't correct, I'm being very general here, it's more like the old Intel fdiv issue for some pentiums).

I used to be able to recreate the effect on demand until I switched to nVidia.

Despite what is listed a bazillion times on these forums, the ports you need are not complete.

You need ports:
10000 to 11000 (TCP & UDP, inbound & outbound)
7030 (TCP outbound)
9700 (UDP outbound)
5190 (TCP inbound & outbound) - Not needed anymore, this is the AOL port.

also check that you have local admin rights on your machine (I don't think that's the problem)

It is possible that T-Online are blocking the outbound UDP requests to 9700 or tcp 7030 (crazy Germans) SMILEY These 2 ports are required for the auth and patch servers. The launcher will not work propely without them.

As for the "can't run multiple instances" error, if it happens again just open the task manager (ctrl-alt-del then chose task manager) and manually kill the matrix.exe task.

I am behind a WatchGuard Firebox and I had to explicitly allow those outbound connections. It took a lot of "change config, watch blocked packet log, repeat" to get it right.

It's not usually a problem as most firewalls allow anything outbound. But some along with some service providers don't so that you can't spread an infection as easily, should you get one.

Support Forums General Technical Help and Questions Radeon 9800: VPU crashes Re: Radeon 9800: VPU crashes phi 0 01/17/2006 18:13

Not sure if it's related (I have a GeForce FX Go 5600) but my native resolution is 1680x1050 I run the game in 1024x768 and the loading area is 800x600.

Every time I was killed and hit reconstruct, or occasionally when I jacked out to the loading area via a hardline it would crash and I'd have to alt-f4 (assuming it didn't crash really badly... occasionally I'd have to reboot).

It turns out that there was (still is?) an issue where the delay caused by the resolution change (every time you change resolution, or hide and redisplay a directDraw window, all the directDraw faces and images need to be reloaded) was too long and something in the game code timed out.

I fixed the issue by reinstalling my machine (I had other driver problems) then upgrading to a faster tweaked video driver that buffered the textures in system RAM better.

It's probably a faulty video driver, you may need to remove and completely reinstall your card in Windows.

firstly you need the latest version (10) of Windows Media Player (go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com or http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia)

Secondly, the media player will display any error messages in the system message box (just above the chat box) check for and post any error messages.

Thirdly... what is your connection speed ... some radio stations might need higher bandwidth

and finally check that the link you are using is live. Some stations (like RMC) will not be live all the time.

You may just be on to something there.

2 comments that stuck out to me:

  1. "This is so uber *CENSORED*!"
If you don't like it then leave instead of ruining it for the people that want to be there and participate for fun. Incidentally, you make yourself look like a fool.

  2. "How about a question that doesn't require I go to the matrix school of uber geekdom?"
Let's see... You're at an event IN THE MATRIX (an MMORPG - mmo Role Playing Game), about a celebration of hope, the Bread Feast, being offered a reward by a MAJOR GAME CHARACTER. The story of the Bread Feast is from the Matrix Comics (and is readable online for free) and shows some of the origins of Morpheus' beliefs... and you complain about being asked questions about the Bread Feast.
For an encore you should go on The Price is Right and say "Why don't you ask questions that aren't about prices?"

Again, no-one really knew if you were a fool... until you opened your mouth and proved it.

(( IC ))

As for the gathering. I thought Michael Popper's words could not have come at a more appropriate time. Centuries ago Men fought great wars against each other over the usual sort of things; greed for land, honour, religion, their right to live. In the midst of these senseless conflicts people always found moments of common ground where they could share a drink or a cigarette.

There is even a story that I came across while working in the maintenance hangars, when a scavaging party brought back some books and more of those ancient movie discs that Geoffry once saw. It was a historical account of what was (at the time) called World War 2. On this occasion it was the day of December 24th and both sides, the English and the Germans had been shelling and shooting and stabbing each other for weeks (no EJOP here folks, real blood and everything). What was worse is that they all knew that there was a good chance the fighting would continue for some time more. With the corpses of their friends and enemies begining to pile high and decompose, the fields were just about the most horrific place you could imagine.
Amongst all of this, the soldiers realised that the annual festival of Christmas (the celebration of the birth of their religious saviour) was upon them. This Christmas was a festival much like the Bread Feast. It was a time where people celebrated and gave thanks for what they had now, friends, family, loved ones, food, life and freedom. The soldiers of both sides agreed that Christmas and what it represented was so much more important than the war they were fighting, that they arranged a ceasefire for the day. They allowed the fighters to attend to their wounded, bury their dead and eat a christmas meal in peace. A number of officers and soldiers even set up a table in the middle of the battlefield and shared a meal of bread and water with each other.

Sure the Oracle has said, quite rightly too, "Nothing ever goes quite as planed." But as Kid said "Not everything has to end in fighting."

Also a big thank you to the Oracle for extending an olive branch. Your presence always brings a smile to my face.

Something to think about for the "Holiday season".

RMC isn't controlled in any way by WB or Sony. The place to raise this issue would be on the radiomegacity.com forums. I'll reply shortly (within the hour) as to the status, I need to modify my firewall settings here to allow me to check if the codecs have changed.

The other thing to remember is that RMC isn't always broadcasting and if they are off the air that might cause unpredictable results given the "high quality" of WMP :smileywink:

Now that I've managed to reinstall 2 machines and actually get access to the firewall here (seriously this network is apalling.) I can confirm that RMC is up and working for both winamp and WMP.

I know that they changed or will change (I'm in australia and never know what date it is in the states) the RMC web server on the night of Jan 26th. The streaming server should have been unaffected by this.

I'd visit http://update.microsoft.com if I were you.
