I say merge all three servers and flag everyone for pvp at level 30.  You can't lose.  There will be more rp, pvp, rpvp, and more to do.  Everybody wins.

I'm just saying if we're talking merge then add a little spice to it.  The Megacity is big enough for people to find areas they can go if they're afraid of being attacked.  I used level 30 because that's when you can run the current storyline. Something should be done to get the excitement level back up in this game.  It would also be easier for the devs to implement the new content as someone mentioned before.

I think the hostile vs non-hostile issue isn't really the issue.  It's population.  One thing we can probably agree on is that their is a dedicated fanbase spread across all three servers, and then folks who "come and go". Again if you're talking server merge why not bring the dedicated base together in one place.  Maybe being flagged at 30 can be debated but if that were the case, would it be that bad of a trade-off to interact with more players.  More pop makes the content more fun imo.

I opened this thread to discuss the Recursion/syntax issue... please if you want to discuss Vector do another Vector has its own purpose.. I dont think we should merge the 3. Anyway, I would really like for people to comment on Recursion/Syntax. Thank you!

I may have missed this but are all the neighborhoods going to be done like the new Tabor Park update?  I just finished getting the Industrial gloves and nice xp from turning in gang items on Vector and I think this is a good idea to get new players to explore each neighborhood.

This is how the New Approach format should go.

 

Update Released

  • Players view cinematic
  • Org Leaders open up an in-character discussion on DN1 forums to give their INITIAL thoughts on the situation and encourage interaction from their operatives.

Weeks 1 and 2 - Chapter Missions

  • Players run chapter missions and collect the needed items for rewards or for use in combat (such as antioverrides, etc.)
  • Upper and lower level players should team up so everyone gets to experience the new content.  Requests for mission teams of course can be posted on forums.

Week 3 - Live Event (PVE)

  • 3 LESIG (or call them something else) officers need to be assigned (1 per org) and events run as they did before latest changes.
  • There should be 1 event per org and can be on any server.  In these events, players will interact with other characters besides org leaders.  Also, there will be key infomation that operatives will need to find or discover that will be needed in week 5.
  • There will be NPC spawns that will need to be dealt with such as past events.

Week 4 - PVP Event

  • Each server will have their own pvp event where all 3 orgs collide for a purpose related to the story. 
  • These should last around 2 hours each.

Week 5 - Org Meeting

  • Org leaders will update their original post on DN1 with information such as what the subject matter of the meeting will involve and any oustanding questions they (the org leaders) have regarding current storyline situation.
  • Information from week 3 will need to be recalled and will contain answers to org leader's questions.
  • The meetings should be held in the city as opposed to constructs and lvl 100 sentry guards should surround the meeting building and be on the roof to deal with opposing orgs who want to try and gain unauthorized access. This creates an immersive atmosphere.
  • Org leaders need to be accompanied by other official members of their org to create a more "official" to the event.
  • Org leaders should ask specific questions to specific operatives during the meeting to encourage involvement.

Week 6 - All Operative Party

  • LE characters should eventually arrive at the event.
  • At the end of the party there should be a climatic event (developers can be creative with this) that sets the stage for the next update.

New update released - repeat cycle

I think that pretty much covers it.

Thanks to everyone who responded.  I know some of this may seem undoable but I really don't know what the developers are capable of.  Alot of people seemed dissapointed with the first round of org meetings, so I figured maybe the developers can take bits and pieces from this and add to their new format.

You have a good point here.  I didn't want to leave any org out of the pvp part, but if the developers were to actually put something like this together, hopefully they would have a way for it to make sense within the current phase of the story.

I had this thought also after I made this post, but again I would defer to the developers to maybe mix it up a little or do what they can to at least not make it seem as routine.  Hopefully, the content of the story would keep the format fresh.

I agree that players should have access to spawn tools and anything else that helps enhance player-driven content.  There have been some really good player event ideas that could have been alot better if such tools were in place.  This would help fill the void between updates that alot of players seem to be experiencing.  As far as those that may abuse such tools, simply ban said player.  The good far outweighs the bad.

MxO is not in a position to go around banning people.

Sure it is.  I know a few that have been banned for other stuff.  If spawn tools and such were to make it in-game, and a player sets out to abuse those tools....ban.  This would be for the community and it wouldn't be fair to let someone ruin it without consequence.

So it really will come down to us. While the lack of an updated story, the absolute death of LE's, and lack of additional content will be rough, there will be many who have no intent to leave until the servers are shut down.

I think the New Approach format is working fine.  I like the idea of "playing' the story and having to team with others.  However, I do feel as though we've lost something by not having in-game events.  Personally, I've only been to one event since I returned almost two years ago (had a ton of fun btw).  The biggest loss for me in the change has been not being able to read event recaps.  I miss being able to see your friends in the event and laugh at them later for something silly they said or did . If the devs can give 1 event per org/per update period, I think this game is ready for some SOE.com banner exposure.  How about it?

so its usless in pvp, wise it needs reviewing

From my experience using the proxy trees, the best thing I can say is create your sim away from combat (if you can) and command it to stay.  You have to interlock whoever is using the proxy coder ab and then have the sim attack while you're interlocked with said opponent.  It's best to go Utility Master for this since UM's are better in interlock, and you can use viral sims to attack your opponent from the outside.
