(Posted on behalf of a friend) [Frozen] Like so many other redpills, I sometimes go into the old mission archives. Completed operations, recorded and played back for the benefit of newer operatives, to show them how we got to where we are today. My redpill colleagues think I do it for the $information, or for the potential boost to my neurokinetic level, so I just smile at them amiably and nod. But I know they’re wrong. I always go back to the same mission. I can’t help myself. Like each time before, I silently buy the same ticket and activate it, and then mindlessly rush through until I reach the point I care about, the only part that matters to me. My heartrate increasing slightly, I enter the Machine building. Sometimes I want to run inside, sometimes I want to delay it as long as possible. But it doesn’t matter, because each and every time I still go in. No matter what I happen to be feeling that particular day, I always go in. Each time, I enter this segment of the recording of the past, ignoring the prime movers. They’re not who I’m here to see. Instead, I search out the background players. And when I find the one I’m looking for, I stop and I stare into my own face. It is always unsettling. I look up into my own eyes, and I remember that my eyes were blue, even though I cannot see them clearly behind the dark glasses. Sometimes I want to freeze the program, and see myself as I used to be, just for a little while. Sometimes I want to scream at him to run, to not let himself/myself take part in this, this perversion, but I know it would be no use. It’s just a recording. He/I am a just a recording, a projected image with very limited responses, and what’s done is done. But there are also many times when I enter this archive with a broad smile on my face, and I tell him/me “yes, you must agree to this, because you will gain so much more than you will ever lose, more than you ever would have thought possible.” My previous self just looks at me curiously when I do that, because he doesn’t understand, which usually makes me smile again. I really have changed. But in the end it doesn’t matter, because he’s/I’m just a recording, after all. In the archived mission, I look into what was once my own face. My face, for countless years of hunting down redpills, of protecting the simulation and our civilization that depended on it. But now I can smile at my own bland, impassive expression, as my new self tries to challenge his old ways of thinking. Because I know what’s going to happen to him. There are times when I’d like to shake him, or slap him, or kiss him…to do something, anything, to wipe that non-expression off his face. To shock him. To hint at the horrors and wonders of what he’ll come to know, and what he’ll become. But because I know this is simply a recording, I’m satisfied with his quizzical look of not-understanding, because I know he’s not prepared to accept these changes. Not yet. Not now. Maybe not ever. Not that knowing the future would have mattered, in the long run. Refusing an order would have resulted in a swift return to the Source. What was done is done, and it cannot be undone…assuming, of course, that Seraph never regains his cheat-code enhanced abilities and rips me out of what is now mine. And it is very much mine, just as much as the body I’m looking at used to be mine. And I will fight for it to remain mine. He’s still staring at me with that same puzzled expression. And as I look from what I was once to what I am now – a living, breathing human being – I wonder again why I keep coming here. “Operator,” I say softly, my eyes never leaving his face. “Freeze program.”

This thread serves as place for myself, Aquatium, EndlessVoid and all Recursion Wardrobe GrandMasters to rejoice that our black clothing will actually now be black instead of charcoal or the unfortunate mismatching variations of black that we've suffered through. /bigcheer /w00t! *drools in anticipation of a full-black wardrobe*

Thanks to an undercover operative in Zion, we have discovered the secret hotbar that some of Zion has been using to dominate Mara Central on Recursion. I must warn you. What you are about to see may astound you. . . . . . I urge machinist and merovingian operatives to cautious of red Zionists. There is no telling what combination they may use. (Have a good laugh everyone!)

Sati's Playground Quest Idea Sati's playground is full of many nooks where a little girl can gleefully play hide and go seek with any operative willing to devote some time to finding her. Once she's discovered, she'll reward you with some toys to play with! Premise The idea is that a stationery Sati NPC (like a contact/collector) is located within the construct. Hiding in a random room of the numerous buildings, she waits for someone to find her. Once you interact (double-click) a spawn of NPCs (like her toyboxes) will emerge for you to fight. Once it is over, she'll vanish and reappear in another random location to again wait for a player to find her. The NPCs can drop tokens (like the Sleepwalker marbles/Kunoichi shuriken) that can be traded in for special rewards. Given the difficulty in finding her, perhaps the reward could be something worthwhile to encourage participation. Possible NPCs: - Red-eye Agents - Commandos - PB3 Commandos - Unlimit Possible Prizes: - Red-eye Agent shades - Commando Boots - PB3 Commando shirts - Unlimit pants - Red-eye Dual handguns Prize levels/trade requirements/buffs are up in the air but this is just a basic concept that I think would be fun.

Just for the lulz, I was thinking that the following could be done for the constructs to spice them up a bit: [DATAMINE] - Assassin Skybox added.
- Erosion effect added to building textures.
- Level 75 Assassin placed on the barge.
- When killed drops a Desecration token. The token is redeemable at Fumigator for various new (recycled) items. (TBD)
- SSR Security is now infected with the Fly Virus.
- Periodic quakes affect the island.
[SATI'S PLAYGROUND] - Blue Skybox added.
- Level 70 Sleepwalker named "Mr Flibble" added to Debir Court.
- When killed drops a Lucid token. The token is redeemable at the Sleepwalker collectors for new (recycled) items. (TBD)
- 5% chance drop of blue version of Sleepwalker bandana with increased buffs.
- Piece of Blue Sky concert stage added showing archived videos from contest.
Yep, I'm bored and daydreaming of proposals like we had a dev to consider them. XD

I am very impressed with the amount of new redpills running around Richland after this weekend's trial began. Uriah was practically red the whole time as newbies and veteran players flocked there.
If you haven't been out there, please visit the new people. Not only is it a chance to recruit new blood, but to also give them a warm welcome. We've lost so many friends and players over the course of the last couple months and now we have a chance to greet new players who will judge everything on their first impressions. It's time to rebuild what has been lost. Now's the best chance to do so.
Code, Train, Mold and Amaze them. They are the future.

As of late, I've been very inspired to getting back into graphic work. I used to do a good bit during Beta, but that diminished as the game went Live. After drooling over the works I've seen by some of the current RSI powerhouses, I've decided to attempt a return to the world of eye-catching screenshots/sigs. I can only hope that I present work comparable to the things I've seen from the likes of Aquatium and Sykin. Here are a couple of my favorites. Very little has been done to enhance them other than color adjustments and minimal editting. "Bullseye"
Even though the target selection and damage UI remain, I love the detailing and lighting of the shot. It's something that I plan to enhanced more in the future. This screen was taken shortly after the lobby personnel was "adjusted". "Interrogation"
This one I use frequently because I love the look of the image. It was taken shortly after the "unbleaching" of the black clothing. We were interviewing a prospective recruit when I snagged the image. "Lookalikes"
Cammara and Pentangle got dressed up like the LET characters one boring night in Stamos. The paparazzi were first on the spot! ----- Recently I upgraded to Corel Photo-Paint X3. It's got a lot of great tools and is much improved compared to its previous version. Cropping is much easier now and looks a lot better, imo. Using the new tools, I created these 2 sigs:
&
Anywho, that's all for now. I'll be working on new images now that I have new toys. Thanks for taking the time to check these oldies out. See ya next update! Garu

Years ago, our presence inside the great Mega City was unauthorized. Our operatives lives were in danger from the moment they jacked in to the Matrix until the very second they reached a hardline out of it. Agents were ruthless and uncooperative. There was only your death in their eyes. As a reminder of days long gone, I post the following: " Run!"

In the instance of Recursion, we are blessed with a great population. Among that population, there are those that possess passion, loyalty and unbreakable conviction. I'm honored to showcase them in this collection of the highlights of Recursion's finest. I merely captured them in a moment of time. Please enjoy.

Seven years ago the world we know as the Matrix was a different place. It was a time when the Matrix existed on 2 different levels. On one level was a world of humans living out their lives in the virutal bliss unaware of the second level of war and despair. In that level, humans who had left the simulation worked silently to free humanity from the restrains of the machines who used their energy to sustain themselves.
Five years ago we learned of a third level where an egomanical program ruled in an underworld of sin and decadence in a kingdom of exile programs.
But times have changed. No longer are the levels seperate. No longer are the humans hiding inside the Matrix. The world has changed. It has grown and evolved.
In the new era of the Matrix, humans work with the machines. Some humans even work for the king of the exiles. Choice is in full effect and everything is right with the world. Red pills loiter casually near the very same hardlines that they once flung to for life or death. Humans cooperate with the very same agents that once killed them on sight.
Even the coppertops are aware of the red pills. Though they are under the premise that we're just gangs who indulge in violence and cause trouble, they still know about us. They see us. We are real.
Many of you mourn the truce as it keeps conflicts down and keeps things from being interesting. But I say not to mourn it. I ask you all to enjoy it. There will come a day when the truce falls. There will come a time when standing around the central hardline in Mara will be a memory. The luxuries you foresake now will haunt you later on.
Right now we've reached a point where all of this life is being jeopardized by a power-hunger troll. He will seek to destroy everything we have worked for and everything we take for granted.
Those of you who remain to fight the good fight, I applaud. You are the true warriors who will guide us into the future whatever it may be. But those of you who long for the times of old and cling to the past, do not be left behind.
In conclusion, I summize to say that the world we knew is gone and the world we have now must be protected. There may be nothing exciting during peace, but I'll take it over loss anyday.
This is our world now. This will be our legacy.
Live it like every second counts.

One year ago today our server was birthed from the merger of Method, Iterator and Regression. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Mostly because a glitch was causing faction tags to be incorrect (The Collective appeared as Prophets of Peace). I also remember the monumental PvP that occurred as factions and orgs tried staking their claim on the new Mara C of Recursion. Zion and the Machinists went head to head while the Merovingians waited to strike. It was a helluva battle and one that echoes in my mind everytime i see Mara's NorthWest Hardline. Everyone please share your stories and your screenshots! Happy Birthday Recursion. We've been through a lot together and I'm anxious to see what you've got in store for the next 365 days. /salute

With FREE trial keys now going out like hotcakes, little newly awakened redpills will be all over the Northern half of Richland like ants on a hill. I urge you all to "retreat" to less lagged areas like International or Downtown. I even put forth the challenge of asking someone to try establishing a new social HL in downtown. **Welcome to our forums**!! The reason we flock to Mara is frankly because during the initial stages of live, EVERYTHING was taking place in Mara. From Morpheus sightings to codebombs to Assassin appearances. So naturally we all congregate there to wait for something bright. However, as you'll notice more and more of the events are heading into downtown. Even the Archaeologist was moved there! So in conclusion, I urge you all to give Richland to the new redpills and spread your veteran wings towards the tougher areas. Afterall, we didn't grind to 50 so we can hang around in a level 5 zone of Mega City, right? Unless you wanna try impressing some level 2 by standing in his presence. Also, if you wanna use the "vendors" as an excuse to cling to Mara, I will glady direct you to Sai Kung Central, Baldwin Heights and other various places. Second point I'd make would be that unless you're level 20ish, vendors don't sell anything you need anyway. PS: Yes I know at least 100 threads before mine have been trying the same thing. Nothing wrong with trying again, eh?

Throughout our travels we have encountered many who we've come to admire and respect. From their devotion to their cause or their mercilessness in battle, these warriors of a hostile land walk with pride and never turn back from their destiny. Some of these images are captured across time. Appearances may have changed but their courage remains just as vigilant. We present to you: Vector: In a Thousand Words We hope you enjoy.

Ok, So we all know that Niobe and Ghost's characters are revised from their original design due to likeness rights. While Niobe is fairly resemblant of her original shell (portrayed by Jada Pinkett-Smith), Ghost, however, looks like some totally random character and has VERY little familiarity. For instance, despite the lond braids, Niobe still wears her trademark eyewear and the crocodile leather clothing. The coat is now a longer trench, but the pants remain the same. The color is more red whereas they were somewhat maroon in the film. Ghost's ONLY identifying feature is his tie-less buttoned collar and black half-duster jacket. His head is shaved as well as his mustache and goatee. He doesn't even wear shades. (WTH?) My request is simple: Devs, Can Ghost at least have his shades or facial hair back? Thank you for your time.

So last night I jack in to check things out and Tabor Park was HOT!!!!!!!!!! It's been a while since "there are too many people to display..." came up on my /who. Every hardline in Tabor Park seemed to be flooded with fighting. Furious Angels, Mervs, Mechs, it was fantastic. It was like "Battle of the Zergs" or something. Bravo, Vector!! Way to show that life still beats in your old, cruel heart. To everyone camping Mara for easy CQ, you totally missed out, imho.

Dearest Walrus, devs, players and friends... During a nostalgia trip this weekend celebrating 2 years of playing/testing MxO, the thought occurred to me that for a while now our offical page has lacked the ever-beneficial resource of hosting Tyndall's city guides. During Beta, these guides were released to testers and prospective players as a means to enrich their minds and help them become more aware of the world they would be jacking in to. Afterall, the post-truce Matrix is chaotic world and direction can save your life! All that we have now is some default, basic, super vague information inaedquately describing the depth of this game. The information in this guides is crucial to anyone just entering the Matrix or even to some of us old dogs. The purpose of this thread is to ask that they be returned to the home page. Aside from the education purposes, these guides were written so well that they compell players to immerse themselves into this world. I remember drooling over the prospects of diving into MXO long before I was invited to test because of this very guide. If there is a legal, business and/or executive reason for which these cannot be used, that's certainly an acceptable reason. But if not, would you PLEASE consider reposting them. I promise that sales will reflect how advantageous they can be. And if you don't believe me, ask all the Beta vets...

I know this is a DEAD HORSE but I've never really kicked it, so here goes: What's the deal with the forum ranks? I know that they are a tremendously small problem in the long list of real problems, but I'm so tired of being "New Recruit". Prior to this "version" I was Transcendant and had earned that title fair and square. In the end I know it means nothing but some text under my name but after being on the official game boards since February 2004 and over 6,000 posts throughout the course of the many incarnations we've been given...I just feel slightly annoyed at seeing "New Recruit" under my name. I know that this is something pending a resolution, but I just had to say my piece: New Recruit is da suxx0rz! /endrant

Well... I thought I'd never say this. I mean, I've been in MxO for over 2 years now. I've seen a lot of things but I just don't see myself involved anymore. Remember the good old days? Yeah, I miss them too. I think I'll give in to the temptation of mourning them as a reason to leave. Ever since Lith left and the LET died, things just haven't been as great. Sure, the LET was awesome but I can't help but miss all the crashing that took place during events because all my friends were there. I'll miss how I nearly got the killshot on the Uriah Assassin, but crashed out before I could do so. I might have had a mask. I can't believe how SoE runs events now. I mean, W-T-F is up with selective audiences to reduce lag/crashing. How dare they stretch my one weekend of fun a month into several small events that take place throughout the course of a month making things seem much more realistic than just one weekend! I know that was a run-on sentence, but you know what I mean. Life is full of disappointment. Why bother waiting around for this game to get better?! I should leave now while there's something to complain about!! I should just go farm 6 razor blade pendants and cut myself. Everyone is leaving, so I should too. I should get going before SoE makes even cooler items like the Area K or brings back the Assassin. God forbid those "pew-pew" people show up before I jack out for the last time. PvP isn't fun anymore either. I mean, I PvP with people and they die. *CENSORED* is up with that? How can people die? That's so mean. Let's all loiter in Mara and sing songs or joy. PvPing is for losers. 01 sucks too. I mean, I can't believe people try to PvP there. I just want to farm my jacket and play patty cake with reds. Too bad the devs won't let me emote with them. I'd probably do doggysniff all the time. Anyways, peer pressure and poor excuses for leaving has motivated me to go too. I'll miss you all. But its ok. Life is like a box of chocolates and then someone comes by and knocks them out of your hand. Good going SoE. I can't believe you'd give me 3 characters per server, 5 orgs to choose from and a mulititude of things to do while I work my way up to 50. How dare you spend all your time working on a perfect Halloween event instead of fixing some bug like stacking? I mean, I know only losers stack, but why should they have to suffer too? Maybe one day I'll come back for 6 hours and cancel. Maybe I'll go play some other game like Elf Wars or Worlds of Wombats. /salute PS> If you managed to read my entire post, then I thank you for your time. Hopefully you managed to pick up on all the sarcasm. I'm not really leaving. But chances are, someone will half-read and post "5o l0ng Garuz!" See you in the best damned game on the internet, my fellow redpills. MxO > All (I don't care what you say!)

During an event, many things can happen. Some good, some bad. The key to it is always in the players who participate. Therefore, I ask: - Do you dress your best? - Do you participate in-character? - Do you show respect to all those in attendance? - Do you respect the LE character (or LESIG) present? - Do you scream obscenities, SPAM or act crudely? If yes, why? - Do you express displeasure, out of character, while present at the event? If yes, why? - Do you leave, if disinterested? If No, why? - Do you expect a prize?
